2. is he asking for a "do over" ???
you know, during the Vietnam War, the Congress repealed the Gulf of Tonkin resolution that intially gave the President the authorization to go to war ... they had enough of the damned war and they repealed it !!

all these "johnny come latelies" finally realizing that trusting bush may not have been the greatest idea should do more than just apologizing; they should do something to clean-up the mess they made ...

how about calling for the repeal of the IWR !!!!!

10. I met Tom the other day and he gave a kick ass speech to a room
full of Repukes that had them standing. He reclaimed patriotism for us and redirected 9-11. He was viciously attacked and tons of money and slander was thrown at his race. No Dem could have survived. I think he could have been tougher when he was Leader but Harry Reid wasn't wonderful until recently(he voted for the Bankruptsy Bill) and he is taking his advice from Daschle. The shutdown idea came from Daschle. Reid didn't dream it up. It makes me sick the way some on this board beat our Dems when they are down. Tom is a good man who Id didn't always agree with but most of the armchair nasties who have never run for office in their lives are just despicable to diminish a veteran and distinguished public servant as Dachsle. And people forget, he was the one that got the anthrax.

11. I tend to agree with you.
I've alwasys figured Daschle was one of the good ones, worthy of supporting, despite his shortcomings.

12. Another thread bashing a top Democrat
How refreshing. :sarcasm: It appears that the Cindi cult here at DU has gone off the deep end.

Until very recently I was a South Dakota resident, and I can tell you that Tom Daschle was a GREAT senator. He was also an effective Minority Leader.

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist personally campaigned in South Dakota against him, and the republican machine in general pulled dirty tricks to get their boy Thume elected.

But that's okay, right? You hate Daschle, and that's all that matters. To hell with all the good he's done and is still doing.

What a pissy attitude.

13. nah just a realist...most dems are demopublicans and in cahoots
with corporations just like the republicrats...

gimme more conyers's, leahy's, byrd's and less daschles...

ya gotta get out of the mindset that just because someone says their a democrat it dont mean much sometimes. ala zell miller and Nelson.

more independents, third party and free democrats are needed.

14. I think when some people have paid their dues as has Daschle
then they should comment. Some who have never run for office or been in public service are way to quick to condemn and over the top with their criticism!

16. Great. My next door neighbor just called for troop withdrawal by 2006....
Bob called for a withdrawal by September of 2006. And, no offense to Daschle, but they currently hold the same public office.
