"Senate's 'Gang of 14' Fractures Over Alito"
WASHINGTON - The 14 centrists who averted a Senate breakdown over judicial nominees last spring are showing signs of splintering on
President Bush's latest nominee for the Supreme Court.

That is weakening the hand of Democrats opposed to conservative judge Samuel Alito and enhancing his prospects for confirmation.

The unity of the seven Democrats and the seven Republicans in the "Gang of 14" was all that halted a major filibuster fight between GOP leader Bill Frist and Democratic leader Harry Reid earlier this year over Bush's lower court nominees.

The early defection of two of the group's Republicans, Mike DeWine of Ohio and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, could hurt if Democrats decide to attempt a filibuster of Alito, the New Jersey jurist Bush nominated Monday to replace retiring
Sandra Day O'Connor.

5. I agree. We're sick of these right wing fundamentalists
trying to rule the country. Just because they hijacked the GOP doesn't mean they can hijack our country. Bush fed them with his garbage of Christ being his greatest philosopher. You noticed how Bush dumped the Golden rule in the garbage on his pre-emptive strike shit?

3. Alito Is Peddling Crap - Durbin Shouldn't Buy
IANAL

But, Alito says in the article he recognizes a right to privacy in the Constitution. Yet he thinks there is nothing wrong with women having to notify spouses (or get permission) for an abortion.

So, does privacy not apply to a married woman with regard to her husband? Or is Alito lying?

4. The GOP men believe in religious domination over their wives
It's a fundamentalist Al Qaeda thing. The right wingers are missing one thing. Women are no longer dependent on them and don't have to put up with their chauvinistic beliefs. Maybe they need to be reminded again.

6. Oooh, now that the Republicans got what they wanted, they change rules?
Who would've thought?

Why, that would make them untrustworthy.

I'm shocked, shocked!

7. Dewine is trying to cover his ass with the cons
he knows that if he doesn't do something soon, he's going to be toast in the primary next, let alone the general election

8. Alito, the bobble head
Has anyone noticed that his head seems to sway and bobble and definitely leans to the right most of the time. How appropriate. Wonder what his affliction is?
