Well it seems Gov. Goodhair of Texas
seems more worried about amending the Texas Constitution to "protect" marriage. And the fundies are out in force. I found this in my mailbox.

We'll be voting NO for sure although I am almost sure it will pass with all the kool-aid drinkers here in my state.

With all that needs amending in the Texas Constitution such as school finance this is on which the idiot lawmakers are focusing. Oh, yeah, marriage is sure going to be stronger after this passes. :sarcasm: And if you really want to heat up, check out the website, www.back2bible.com. I find a lot of false causality here and biblical misinterpretation and/or careful picking and choosing. This digusts me and I am as straight as they come.

1. Why's the guy trying to hang himself then?
I mean, isn't that what the rope is for?

16. I don't think I follow.
Are you against gays wanting this right of marriage or against the self-righteous who can't see that all marriages aren't necessarily a man and a woman?

I believe gays have worked the legislative system but what happens is that it comes down to the fact that their relationship is not legally recognized therefore they can receive no benefits as married individuals.

25. "If the goal of gays is to create families"
I think their goal is to be treated equally, and to be afforded all of the rights and benefits that are granted to couples of the opposite sex.

Don't be afraid nationwide, gay isn't contagious. Just remember there's a fine line between love and hate. :-)

5. It looks like the blue one is puking
Can't say I blame him.

I haven't gotten any BS supporting prop 2 in my mail yet, thank goodness.

I keep hoping that enough people will be confused and vote no thinking they're voting against gay marriage. At least in my area people are confused on that fact and I'm not explaining it to 'em.

9. As long as were talking old testament God here, where is the prop
about being allowed to smite your neighbor if he doesn't hold the Sabbath holy? When is Texas gonna quit screwing around and stop being so selective of old testament God's proscriptions?

13. My point exactly.
The pastor at my church had a brother that died of AIDS. He's also a biblical scholar. He says that most biblical scholars agree that much was lost from the original translations. Just one example is the idea of virgen. In the original Hebrew or Aramaic, I can't remeber, virgen meant young girl, not what virgen means today.

11. Are you kidding? I LOVE this amendment! Read before flaming.
Read it closely -- it doesn't prohibit gay marriage. It prohibits ALL marriage, even the marriage it so carefully defines and the union of one man and one woman (". . . recognizing any legal status identical . . . to marriage.").

Gonna be a whole lot of us Texans livin' in sin, real soon! Fornication all around! And plenty of children who will now officially be considered out of wedlock.

15. This all stems from the fact
that Goodhair signed a resoultion supporting only a marriage between a man and woman at a church in Ft. Worth. It requires an amendment to the Constitution. Meanwhile Texas schools are still operating without funding. A$$wipes.

pissed me off so. anytime talking to the fundies, religious and repugs in this area i bring that up, at the point of using a church for hate, is when religion has really lost their way. shame shame on texas.

yes i know.

paid for by a local guy who dumped his wife for another woman. You guessed it-the ad urges voters to "Protect the sanctity of marriage as it was ordained by God."
