As the producer switches back and forth from a picture of Russert that looks like a big head of a pig and Imus sitting there snickering to himself with a shit eating grin on his face.

Anyone catch that this morning? I am still tickled about it and I hate Imus.

5. I don't think russert's testimony is critical.

If I read the indictment correctly there was plenty of evidence that Loose Scooter Libbey was aware of Mrs. Wilson's status before talking to the media about it and Russert was simply some of the corroborating evidence. The key fact is Libbey's false and/or misleading testimony to the Grand Jury.

Loose Scooter Libbey: 30 years in the slammer to protect nobody from no crime.

6. Psst....which in three out of five counts was about his

conversation with Russert. Its simple, if you believe that Russet is a liar, then you believe that Libby is innocent on those three counts. If you believe Matt Cooper is a liar as well, then you believe Libby is innocent of all charges.

Folks, this isn't rocket science.

there is lots of supporting evidence that you can either view as corroborating Russert's testimony or as being corroborated by Russert's testimony. The point is that the case does not hang solely on the credibility of either Russert or Cooper.

I saw her on Russert's show this weekend, gee think she is on his side??? anyway one of her main points was that this can't be about the war in general because the Dems didn't question it either...

not that they had subpoena power or the ability to call hearings (I think)

and I don't seem to recall the "Micthell Minute" in which she (that's really all it would have taken) refutes all of the WHIG's nonsensical talking points and made sure everyone knew what the "shelf life" of each WMD were. But then maybe I missed her extensive exposes.

PS Russert isnt lying. He didn't tell Libby about plame. There's lots of supporting evidence in that indictment that Libby is going to have a hard time squirming out of.

17. Imus knows that Russert's

testimony will bury Libby. He has been making variations on this same joke since it came out that Libby said Russert was his source; Russert had already made clear he was not.

The Russert story is extremely important, because it offers strong evidence that shortly after the leak became a legal issue, Libby made up a detailed lie that he was confident would not be exposed ... because he did not expect Ashcroft to pursue it with reporters. This creates evidence of "consciousness of guilt," something the talk with Cooper does not do.

Russert is considered (though not on DU) as the most trusted and reliable journalist in America today. He has zero motive to lie about his talk with Libby. Imus is absolutely correct in that Tim's testimony will convict Libby. And Libby knows it, too.
