Bill Clinton Voted For The IWR
"The credible threat to use force, and when necessary, the actual use of force, is the surest way to contain Saddam's weapons of mass destruction program, curtail his aggression and prevent another Gulf War."

1. Well, well, well

Trent Lott didn't support our troops! He's unpatriotic, the bastard! Not supporting our president in a time of war! Sound familiar? :eyes: :P

But in an extraordinary rebuke of the president's foreign policy, Mr. Lott, said he opposed the air assault on suspected Iraqi chemical, nuclear and biological weapons sites, arguing that the attacks were ineffective.

“I cannot support this military action in the Persian Gulf at this time,” Mr. Lott said in a statement, infuriating the White House. “Both the timing and the policy are subject to question.”

For months, Mr. Lott has criticized the administration for failing to take more aggressive steps to topple Saddam Hussein. Under pressure from Congress, Mr. Clinton enacted the Iraq Liberation Act in October, which earmarked $8 million to support Iraqi political opposition. But in a letter to Mr. Clinton on Wednesday, Mr. Lott and five other Senate Republicans said only $58,000 of that money has been spent.

5. Contrast that with this
"How dare Senator Daschle criticize President Bush while we are fighting our war on terrorism, especially when we have troops in the field? He should not be trying to divide our country while we are united."

3. There is a missive difference between 98 and 02
Clinton wasn't a power mad demagouge with right wingers trying to remake the Middle East. Bush is. Kerry supported giving Bush this power Clinton support Clinton having it.

7. Clinton made regime change official U.S. policy
the Iraqi Freedom Act didn't expire when Clinton left office, it was a law for the country, not just for him.

4. Actually, Hillary Clinton voted for the resolution
I understand that some Republicans have trouble telling Bill and Hillary apart. What's your excuse?

8. Did you at least look at the link
ie in the literal sense? I didn't read the article but the link makes it clear it is from 98. His point is that Bill Clinton said in 98 virtually the same thing Kerry is now.

6. Remember
Clinton's bombing raid in 1998 was not an effort at regime change, nor did he get us into a quagmire occupation of the country which has resulted in death, destruction and more hatred at the US in the Middle East.

12. Clinton also invaded a country without UN approval
Which had not attacked us and posed no imminent threat. It posed no risk to national security, in fact. He is hardly a champion for the progressive movement

13. i've always wondered about clinton's foreign policy disasters
was he duped by the cia? (that's difficult to believe based on his (perhaps overly-hyped) level of intelligence).

or was he in fact evil? (no, not at the level of the bfee, but killing 500,000 iraqi children is a bit difficult to justify morally any way you look at it)

15. What country did Clinton invade
I know Nato fought in Bosnia and Kosovo but I know of no country that the US invaded during Clinton's term in office.
