My stomach hurts. Please tell me Rove won't escape accountability...
I'm watching the Sunday talk shows, and I believe I heard Matt Cooper (on "This Week) tell Stephanopolis and the panel that Karl Rove told him about Valerie Plame being a covert CIA agent.

Did I hear this right?

Why isn't Rove being charged then? Rove didn't disclose that he told Cooper this, did he?

I'm not trying to be a doomsayer. I understand that Karl is still under the gun. I agree, this isn't over. However, I am concerned. If they escape accountability on this--there is no telling how brash they will become. BushCo will believe that they're invincible, and I truly fear their future actions.

However--if Cooper says that Rove told him about Plame, why wasn't Rove indicted?

2. read a little more DU this a.m.
I don't think anyone here is under this impression. Most people seem to think he may have bought himself a little time, not much else.

3. They already believe that they are invincible.

Peace.

4. Fitz doesn't think Rove KNEW she was undercover when he leaked
In order to indict for outing a CIA agent, Rove would have had to KNOW Plame was undercover. Fitz said he has no evidence that Libby or Rove knew Plame was undercover. So, he did not issue charges on that issue.

Fitz is indicting only on the basis that people lied to him during his investigation, which is pretty lame, imho.

7. The MSM has withheld the information from the public for so long,
how do you expect them to turn in one week and say, Oopsy here is what happened while we were sleeping.

We'll have to make a case that the MSM is either incompetent, intimidated or complicit and then start calling them out by name to explain themselves.

9. Remember...
Fitz said that Libby was the FIRST one to leak to reporters. He didn't say he was the ONLY one to do so. When it's all said and done, Rove may well be toast.

10. Thanks everyone for the links and insight...
I'm not able to do in-depth research today. My kids are flipping out over Halloween, and I'm unable to sit at the computer for more than 10 minutes.

I will look at the links provided.

Trying to stay positive...

Fitz definitely left the door open.

However, it's all so ambiguous! Freepers and many Reps are celebrating that this is all over. Dems are saying it's not. We won't know for sure, for a while.

Maybe last week wasn't Fitmas. Maybe it was Fitzhog's Day. He poked his head out, saw his shadow and is retreating for a while, until he pops back out to reveal more important information soon--on the true Fitzmas.

11. Life can be incredibly unfair. Unbelievably unfair. The bad don't
necessarily pay in the end. The good don't always vainquish. Take a big breath and do stuff to build up your internal resources like planting a garden, mentoring a kid. And give politics a rest. Cause it can seriously depress you.

There is good in the world. Go find it.
