The most insidious of traitors
I know most people have seen this already, but I thought it was worth repeating:

Remarks By George Bush
41st President of the United States,
At the Dedication Ceremony for the George Bush Center for Intelligence

26 April 1999

...As our analysts know, as our collectors of intelligence know - these are our enemies. To combat them we need more intelligence, not less. We need more human intelligence. That means we need more protection for the methods we use to gather intelligence and more protection for our sources, particularly our human sources, people that are risking their lives for their country. (Applause)

Even though I'm a tranquil guy now at this stage of my life, I have nothing but contempt and anger for those who betray the trust by exposing the name of our sources. They are, in my view, the most insidious, of traitors...

1. Wonder if he regrets those words now...
Right now he can fall back on "innocent until proven guilty" but will he be willing to hold Libby responsible, if not only indicted, but convicted as well? He has put himself in a double bind vis a vis a pardon.

2. Fly on the wall
I would love to be a fly on the wall when George Jr. and George Sr. talk. I can't imagine him not giving his son an earful.

4. I read somewhere that Mr. Bush Senior cannot get an
appointment to talk to Mr. Bush Junior. (Junior, you will recall, listens to "a higher father.")

And welcome to DU, Marc A!

3. Is this a JOKE????
"The George W. Bush Centre for Intelligence"?

Is that anything like:

The Richard Cheney Centre for the Ethical Distribution of Government Contracts?

The Richard Santorum Centre for The Protection of Gay Rights?

The Jerry Falwell Centre for the Propagation of Abortion-on-Demand?

Sorry, but once I saw the words 'Bush' and 'Intelligence' in the same sentence, I was lost ....

5. Leave out the W
CIA Headquarters in Langley, VA really is the named the George Bush Center for Intelligence. But it's named for Sr, not Jr, as he was once CIA director. I chuckle every time I drive past the sign on the GW Parkway.

6. Thanks!
Love the sign. But it's such an oxymoron -- or should I say 'oxymoran'?
