Time To Talk Like Grown-Ups...

Here are several snips, but I strongly recommend you read entire thing:
<snip>
Patrick Fitzgerald believes numerous officials in the White House--to include the Vice President of the United States and the President of the United States--were involved in (depending upon which official you're discussing) either the leak of classified information or criminal acts aimed at covering up that leak.

The problem he faces now is proving offenses--each of which are indictable and/or impeachable--against the twenty most powerful men and women in the world, just about all of whom are members (honorary or participating) of the White House Iraq Group (WHIG) which of late lied this nation into a never-ending foreign war.

<snip>
Prosecutors don't reel in trout to catch guppies.

Scooter clearly told Fitz to "go fish," so that's what the Special Prosecutor did: securing an indictment which effectively ensured that Scooter would never agree to roll on the Vice President--as if he was going to do that, he would have done it before his indictment.

.

<snip>
So, once again, let's be clear: Fitzgerald could have indicted Rove today.

He has the evidence, he merely hasn't figured out his best strategy yet. Maybe Rove can make something stick on the President or Vice President; maybe Rove can't give quality but can give, instead, quantity to Fitzgerald: a large volume of mid-level co-conspirators who don't explicitly include, among their numbers, either of the two Big Fish but who, instead, represent simply one side of a regulation-size softball game--enough conspiring rats to really satisfy this Special Prosecutor's thirst for a Big Picture.

What's unthinkable, however, is that Rove and his lawyer, Luskin, somehow unearthed some information at the eleventh hour which will exonerate the man Stephanie Miller of Air America Radio has now dubbed "Tubby McTreason."

It just didn't happen, folks.

7. This really keeps things in focus.
It has been driving me nutzo with all the, "Oh, jhee, He will get a plea bargin and be given a pardon"...lalalalala

This is not part of any of their playbook......we have them cornered now, and this blog-chat explains why.

EXCELLENT!

8. That is an excellent read.
I do hope that a lot of the DUers manage to read that blog entry top to bottom because it lays out the realities cleanly and in an understandable format.

Nominating, even if it already has more than enough to qualify...

9. this is a brillant synopisis!!
i had a feeling while fitz spoke yesterday that he was setting a trap..did anyone else feel it..here he was doing a press conf..and yet saying very little..all the rporters asking questions that he "Knew" he couldn't and wouldn't answer ..and yet he stayed out there fielding questions..that meant nothing...hsi baseball anaology was wonderful, and his reasons for indictment of libby perfect..then it was end of story...alot of good questions with no answers...so why did he stay out there..he could have easily ended the press conf by saying thats it..good bye..but he stayed and stayed..answering nothing!

why?????????

it was a trap...i felt it all along watching him...he would squint his eyes while a reporter asked a question..and then give the same answer..no answer!!

17. The Q & A had some interesting clues.....
early in the Q & A today, Fitz said that No, he couldn't answer questions about any of "the dangers that this has created for all of us."

Later, he stated that "The obstruction" is keeping him from "getting the truth." (earlier, he had reeled off a list of related questions--intent of this obstruction, why? etc etc.)

Near the end, a reporter (unknown) asks about conspiracy...that Libby wasn't charged on this, but is this what Fitz was exploring? And Fitz VERY QUICKLY cut him off, practically before the guy could get the question out....

I think he's sitting on a huge pile of stuff relating to the lies leading up to this war...and needs to do more squeezing to wrap it up. He probably IS close to the end of the investigation....and needs some key info.....let's hope he gets it!

This blogger Seth seems to believe that Scooter won't flip...(hell, he'd be pardoned, right?).

So it may come down to Rove for a quick finish....otherwise, Fitz will have to settle for a lot of underlings, if I read correctly.
