Does anybody know Joe Wilson's past experience?
The RW are trying to paint him as an inexperienced diplomat who was sent to Niger by his wife. Well, if Joe Wilson had done similar kinds of things in the past for say, a Republican president, wouldn't it shut the RW up?

So, does anybody know if Joe Wilson was every requested to do work at the behest of another president's request for information?

1. Here is a shock: that is a bunch of rightwing bullshit.
Wilson served as U.S. ambassador to Gabon and São Tomé and Príncipe under President George H. W. Bush and helped direct Africa policy for the National Security Council under President Bill Clinton. He was hailed as "truly inspiring" and "courageous" by George H. W. Bush after sheltering more than one hundred Americans at the US embassy in Baghdad, and mocking Saddam Hussein's threats to execute anyone who refused to hand over foreigners. As a result, in 1990, he also became the last American diplomat to meet with Saddam Hussein (Wilson, 2003).

6. So, why hasn't the media done a better job of presenting this to the
public? Why can't Maher or Matthews use this as a rebuttal to the RW nutcases they have on their shows?

9. Mathews is a right wing media whore
posing as a moderate. So there is little chance that he will challenge anything. Maher is a comedian posing as a political pundit and cannot, it seems, be bothered to do even the minimal googling that generally dispenses with rightwing talking points in about 30 seconds per point.

So basically the ones that aren't bought off are not up to the task, which is probably why they aren't bought off. The ones who are up to the task are marginalized out of the mainstream-whore-media.

15. Bill Maher
couldn't even refute Tony Snow last night. It turned into the Tony Snow Show. Maher didn't even try to refute the tired old talking point that Valerie Wilson sent her husband to Niger.

It was a disappointment.

7. No time. But the fact that I know nothing about his stellar record
says something about the MSM's negligence to provide the kind of details that would put an end to the RW spin.

3. Joe Wilson didn't lie to a Grand Jury, Libby did
Nothing will shut up the RW, they are impervious to common sense.

4. George H.W. Bush called Wilson a TRUE AMERICAN HERO.
Wilson was personally responsible for saving hundreds of American lives during the first Gulf war. He also averted a potential hostage situation which might have occurred with Saddam taking our people hostage.

I think it's pretty obvious that Joe Wilson was a standout in his position as ambassador.

5. IIRC, Wilson sat in the Baghdad embassy with a noose around his neck...
practically daring Saddam to come after him. This is the kind of thing that would drive the Right nuts -- physical courage. How many prominent in their ranks served in wartime?

13. yes
It seems like you are stating the obvious in the form of a question.

Do you not understand that the major broadcast and print media outlets are seriously compromised and are basically willing participants in the rightwing takeover of the republic?

14. He was already familiar with the Nigerian government
through his work at the NSC since his focus was Africa. I get frustrated that the MSM only talks about Wilson's work as an Ambassador and even when they discuss that, they never mention what he did to get such high praise from Bush Sr. Heads would explode on Fox or Free Republic if THAT was ever mentioned.

It's ridiculous that everyone discussing Wilson on this thread knows about him because of our personal search for information. It's sad that wikipedia gives far more on a man who has been so heavily written and talked about in the news.

17. Something definitely stinks here.
They're almost going out of their way to hide his true background. Sort of like what Miller did when she called Scooter a Former Hill staffer. Only in reverse.
