Tony Snow lied on Bill Maher's show last night.
He said V. Plame's job wasn't a secret, and he said she was the reason her husband went to Niger.

From the indictment:

"Joseph Wilson was married to Valerie Plame Wilson (“Valerie Wilson”). At
all relevant times from January 1, 2002 through July 2003, Valerie Wilson was employed by the
CIA, and her employment status was classified. Prior to July 14, 2003, Valerie Wilson’s affiliation
with the CIA was not common knowledge outside the intelligence community."

Also from the indictment:

"e. Joseph Wilson (“Wilson”) was a former career State Department official who
had held a variety of posts, including United States Ambassador. In 2002, after an inquiry to the CIA
by the Vice President concerning certain intelligence reporting, the CIA decided on its own initiative
to send Wilson to the country of Niger to investigate allegations involving Iraqi efforts to acquire
uranium yellowcake, a processed form of uranium ore. Wilson orally reported his findings to the
CIA upon his return."

1. You think Snow gives a rat's ass? The repukes will be doing this non-stop
but it's up to those interviewing the repukes or on panels with them to constantly and loudly keep referring back to what is in the indictment and destroy their piddly little Talking Points!

30. Me too. I wish that just once Bill would invite a
savvy, WELL-INFORMED liberal on to stop that shit in its tracks. But he'd probably have to ask a blogger...maybe David Brock would do.

I was yelling at every LIE Snow threw out there. I was also appalled that Bill let Snow take up 75% of the airtime.

19. Kinda goes without saying, doesn't it?
The freepers just keep eating that shit, just like the idiots on C-Span keep going on about Sandy Berger. There is no Democratic "scandal" that we can put to rest with the facts that they can't shamelessly resurrect with lies.

4. I had to turn it off...
Tony Snow was such a smarmy dishonest pig
and Bill did not call him on his "talking points".
Goodness gracious... the man launched out
in the few seconds with a litany of lies...
well known republican smears... and Maher
just sat there stunned. I was disappointed.
Thank goodness for the guest comedian
who finally cried bullsit (literally),

33. I doubt he's afraid of them.....
...but Bill knows that liberals usually agree with his opinions (not always but a lot of the time they do). I think the reason why he doesn't argue as much as we think he should is because he has been trying to attract more conservatives to appear on the show.

12. Typical.
The agent of the fascist cabal spews the talking points, one after another, right off the memo. His opponents are clueless - they haven't even bothered to do their homework. They haven't a single response or rebuttal. Bill does this a lot. He thinks he is a political wonk/comedian, but he doesn't do his homework, he isn't up to speed.

Snow was talking about the Senate report and Mahr didn't seem to know anything about it. Even though he was not well-informed Mahr still called outing a CIA agent treason and a much more serious crime than lying about a BJ.

Edited on Sat Oct-29-05 07:24 AM by C_U_L8R
Billy Connelly called BULLSHIT right to Snow's face.

A big loud "BULLSHIT!!"

Good lord I wish everyone would do that more often.

BULLSHIT !!

And it feels great to say...

BULLSHIT !!!!

Just imagine if reporters started saying...

BULLSHIT !

And if the democratic politicians started calling out....

BULLSHIT !!!

The whole world could rise up and cry out....

BULLSHIT !!!!

and only then will we overwhelm the liars and the crooks
of the reich wing and beat them at their BULLSHIT.

(try it yourself)

I was yelling at the tv...Snow was lying on some very basic points in the plame case. I Think Bill didn't do his homework. I am sure is getting some mail about that one.

I hate him on one viewing. He didn't even have the decency to behave like a guest...he acted like it was His show.

If I heard that "whoa, whoa, whoa" interrupting Bill and his other guests (he especially did it a lot to Billy Connolly, who barely had a chance to complete any sentence) One More Time last night, I was gonna SCREAM!

23. BILLY CONNOLY!!!! Best guest ever!!!
Ok, maybe not the best, but I've been listening to Billy Connoly comedy albums (yes albums) for YEARS. My wife was unfamiliar with him, and was cracking up at him. He was a great guest. His accent is so endearing too.

Snow did nothing particularly special. He did exactly what I expected Tony Snow to do. He was condescending, as expected, he lied, as expected, he twisted the facts, as expected, he treated the purjury charges as no big deal, as expected. Nothing out of the ordinary for someone in his position. Maher called him on some of his blatant bullshit, a lot of it, so I think it's unfair for people to scream at Maher for his part. I think he did fine.

I was glad to see Snow call bullshit on the Alaskan "bridge to nowhere." When Bill started talking about it, I was saying to the TV, "Ok Tony, if you're a true old-school conservative, you'll denounce this bridge as pork, and recognize Ted Stevens is fleecing America while NOLA drowns."

Of course he lied thats what he's paid to do. IMHO Maher didn't do enough to deflect the lies and he let snow monoplolize the panel. Not that this is totally bad since the more he talks the stupider he sounds but I'd love for once the satisfaction of a real crushing putdown by Bill or one of the other guests. Billy Connolly was good but hard to understand and the reporter was mostly MIA.

31. That is the RW spin machine at work. Covert vs classified. They're
making the distinction between being covert meaning "undercover" and classified meaning a high security job, which according to the talking heads is anyone working in the CIA on a desk job. So they do not see this as an issue. And they made fun of Clinton, "What the meaning of IS, IS.

they are impervious to the truth or facts, lie shamelessly and effortlessly, and we need to do a better job with the MSM in rebutting these buttholes.

Maher needs to better prepared or get a DU'er on the board- I am sure that any DU'er could have cleaned Tony Blows clock with the truth and the real facts.

41. Oct 28 media matters clarification of this:

http://mediamatters.org/items/200510280009
CNN's Ensor: "Very high intelligence officials" say suggestion "that Valerie Plame suggested her husband be sent to Niger ... just isn't true"

......

Media Matters for America has documented numerous examples of reporters and commentators claiming that Plame was responsible for Wilson being sent to Niger.

From CNN's October 28 breaking-news coverage:

ENSOR: Secondly, the suggestion that's been out there quite a bit -- and there's even some discussion of it in the Senate Intelligence Committee report -- that Valerie Plame suggested her husband be sent to Niger. I have talked to very high intelligence officials who say that just isn't true. That it was senior officers above her who had the idea of sending Ambassador Wilson, knowing that he'd been in Niger before and was an experienced hand in Africa, a former ambassador on that continent. And they thought he'd be good. They then went to her and said, "Well, what do you think?" She responded with an email that said, "Yes, he'd be good for the following reasons." That was in response to higher-ups at the CIA who suggested that Joe Wilson be sent.
