this quote from Fitz's press conference stood out to me, and I wonder if he has more witnesses in mind?

"We then, when we issued the subpoenas, we thought long and hard before we did that. And I can tell you, there's a lot of reporters whose reporting and contacts have touched upon this case that we never even talked to"

I thought that was an odd statement. Wasn't sure of the point he was trying to make.

2. I think he meant that

before subpoenaing journalists he balanced the interests in the journalists' First Amendment rights in protecting their sources against the national security interests in finding out the facts in the case. He subpoenaed journalists only when the national security interest was so great that it overrode the journalists' First Amendment rights. First Amendment rights are among the most important and most protected rights, thus, the national security interests at issue had to be very important before journalists could be asked to divulge their sources.
