1. Even the idiots are going to start asking WMD questions now
I doubt there will be much improvement in Iraq in the next couple of years either.

5. Fitz is going to keep it alive for '06
Edited on Fri Oct-28-05 11:53 PM by Zodiak Ironfist
and the Goddess will provide us with plenty of fodder for 2008. The one thing you can count on is Republicans over-reaching, over-spinning, and being over-confident.

I'm just HOPING the Democrats have the gumption to collect on this windfall.

We need to press this for '06 and win Congress so we can set the agenda for '08. (among a zillion more-important humanitarian reasons).

Every seat in the House is up for grabs and the Repubs are bleeding support in the Senate, as well. Fitz is keeping this alive long enough for the trials to not be over during '06. If Bush lasts till '08, then the Republicans are toast, and they are beginning to smell it.

7. Just add it to the pile
Strategy-wise I believe that Harry Ried could not be handling this issue better. Add it to the pile of reasons to change Washington and make sure every American understands it. However, the idea that this is the Democratic ticket out of the minority is something of a fallacy. Much of the news surrounding this whole case is lost on Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bag-a-donuts. There are countless reasons to never elect neo-conservative corporatists again, but then there always have been.

The issue that we as a country deal with is that our elections system is seriously broken. Neither party truly represents the American people because those with the money that does all the talking are the wealthiest 5%. That is not to say there are not shining stars in the Democratic party but on the whole those people, when truly effective end up dead or marginalized by fake scandal.

Money in elections is the number one issue for every one of us. I don't care if every Bush, Cheney, Libby and Rove in America is indicted, there will always be another pig -red, blue, whatever- that will belly up to the corporate trough.

All that being said I am still a Democrat and I do believe that our best chance to change America is to elect Democrats, but the most permanent solution is to remove the financial benefit to corporations of having represenatives in corporate pockets.

It will be right up front throughout the election season.

10. A worthy question
I think a lot of that responsibility falls on journalists and dem leaders. They need to talk about not just the indictment of one individual but the dozens of reasons why we the public should believe that the administration has hoodwinked the rest of us....DSM, Sibel, Clarke, O'Neill, Kwiatkowski, Johnson, Wilkerson, Iraq incompetence...tons of clues that should tell us what Bushco is up to. Someone with significant access to media outlets needs to research and write the story.

Edward R. Murrow, we need you.

14. I totally agree. We need to run on our own ideas, not ride this boat.
Nothing wrong with letting the Whitehouse hang itself, tho...

I've seen many posts of right wing talking points here at DU from time to time.

13. Don't worry, the investigation will continue. Libby was the example.
Now he'll start getting some honest answers from the rest of those "White House Officials".

It will be cooking just fine well into 2006.

17. First, let's hope it has an impact on the 2005 elections
Specifically Virginia. That's a very tight gov race and potentially very important for 2008. We keep getting screwed in states like Florida and Ohio when you've got Republican governors, and lower, in charge. If Kaine can use this chaos to help edge past Kilgore it could pay dividends in 2008. That's considered one of the potentially pivotal states in 2008, especially if Warner is on our ticket.

Overall, this is the most relevant thread here. We need a semi-permanent stain, regardless of how long the process drags out or who is implicated. I'll be very interested in the party identification numbers that come out via PEW and others as fall 2006 approaches.
