Bush says "each individual is presumed innocent"
What about Jose Padilla?

Bush is claiming in the Padilla case that he can label any one of an "enemy combatant" and imprison us without trial for the rest of our lives.

Bush quote was about Libby and is at this AP story:

4. Bush: "each individual is... entitled to due process and a fair trial."
"In our system, each individual is presumed innocent and entitled to
due process and a fair trial."

The wonders never cease! The Bush Administration,
which advocates arbitrary arrests, torture,
secret prisons, and indefinite imprisonment
without trial, appeals to the rule of law.

They believe in due process after all,
if only for people like themselves.

5. bush's quote from today.......
Bush: "each individual is... entitled to due process and a fair trial."

Actually, my take on this initial statement by him was that he had more than one person on his mind. Not only libby.....

"Each"

7. Exactly. What about the kids who were working at the
Abu Ghraib prison when the scandal broke? Remember what Bush called them? "Bad apples". "Just a few bad apples, that's all".

Why didn't he come to THEIR defense?

10. Thinking Same Thing
I was thinking the same thing this morning when I heard Bush say that Libby deserves to have the due process of law. I was thinking about how all the people that have been captured are not getting access to the due process of the law. I contend that Democrats should bring this up as an issue. Why is it that Libby should have the due process of the law and others should not?

14. expecting to be hammered to death for this, but...
what about "Wanted Dead or Alive" for Osamma bin Laden, by the cowboy in chief himself-

Guess we only play by the 'old west' rules, when it suits our purposes.

No one is ever presumed innocent anymore- anywhere, in this country at least-

We are a sad shell of what seemed to be a truly 'different' world.
