So... Was Meirs A Sort Of 'Placeholder' Re: The PlameGate Disclosures ???
I just felt it weird, that once the BFEE knew that the Fitgerald Grand Jury Indictment\s was\were coming down, they had in position, a loyal, yet totally unqualified SCJN, that took the focus to the oblique, and was easily tossed away when they wanted\needed to...

Once again, change the subject.

IOW - Was she just another part of the shell game to distract from Iraq???

2. How distracted are we?
Here's a little test...

1) Entitlements and social programs for the poor have been cut this week.

2) Money going to states affected by hurricanes has been cut by at least a quarter. Some Katrina survivors have been unable to get foodstamps.

3) More military bases are being closed.

4) More companies are cutting jobs.

5) SBC got government approval to takeover AT&T. Verizon will do the same with MCI.

6) Dick de Guerin has subpoenaed Eli Pariser of MoveOn.org in order to prove that DeLay's judge has contributed to MoveOn and should be removed from the case.

7) Young quake victims in Pakistan are suffering greatly.

8) The UN is going to sanction Syria.

9) Blair is seriously considering attacking Iran because of its comments about Israel. Very bad idea.

What else? Anyone?

Sue

3. No. Bush was on his own.....
All of his puppet handlers were too busy dealing with their legal problems.

So Dubya is sitting around, by himself. He needs anothe SCOTUS nominee. Karl and Dick aren't there to tell him who to pick, so he picks Harriet, his personal and professional lawyer and his pal.

I can just hear his thoughts in his tiny head.... "I know who to pick! Harriet!"

6. Harry Reid Said So
"Well, sir, what about Harriet here? We won't filibuster her. Honest!" (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) Then the Dems just sit back and watch the fur fly.

5. My theory: Miers was a setup
Now the media will fawn when a RW nominee is adopted.

The Dems will be forced to filibuster the nominee in the Senate.

The "nukuler option" is back on the table.

7. I think they threw Harri
out there to try to lure Dems. to waste some of their small change political capital. They thought we would shoot from the hip at her because we were pretty placid about Roberts. They misread what was really going to go down--the opposition from their own wingnuts. Now the Dems can throw a lot of political capital around--you know, the $5's and $10's we pick up from our clean response to Harri and our righteous indignation over the sleaze cesspool that has been growing in the WH.
