The AP story has now changed: Instead of the bolded text, it now quotes Luskin directly:

"The special counsel has advised Mr. Rove that he has made no decision about whether or not to bring charges," attorney Robert Luskin said. "We are confident that when the special counsel finishes his work, he will conclude that Mr. Rove has done nothing wrong."

2. Doesn't say anything really
Luskin is obviously hoping the last-minute, "fresh" info Rove provided Fitz will save his client. We'll see.

6. Actually, it says a lot, imo
It confirms that Rove has provided new evidence and that sends a VERY strong message to those who, to this point, have not been indicted but are still under investigation that they may have been named by Rove. That will send chills throughout the White House and the hierarchy of the State Department at the very least.

It is a very strong squeeze play that is already yielding results as proven by Rove's eleventh hour conversion.

3. I expect Luskin to say innocent, but more import Rove still in it
So, let's see what happens.

Also, same update

Prosecutors identified Rove in the Libby indictment only as "Official A," recounting a conversation he had with Libby about Plame and Wilson in the days just before the CIA operative's identity was revealed. The mention could make Rove a witness at any Libby trial.

4. The mere fact that his attorney is still dog paddling
raises the very question of whether Rove faces charges or not. It's strange that after a day like today there is still spinning at all.

7. Here's the VIDEO of someone at CNN reading Luskin's statement
at 10 AM ET today. There's more than the brief bit in the OP and it makes it clearer that Rove is not out of jeopardy, but rather that Fitzgerald has not yet decided whether to indict and needs more information.

here's the video at the wonderful Can-o-fun site, with thanks to whoever captured it and put it up:
