Kos: Rove's Lawyer Confirms Rove Remains Under Investigation

From the AP's John Solomon and Pete Yost:

Karl Rove, Bush's closest adviser, escaped indictment Friday but remained under investigation, his legal status shadowing a White House already in trouble. <...>

Rove's lawyer said he was told by special prosecutor Fitzgerald's office that investigators would continue their probe into the aide's conduct.

"Rove's lawyer" is Robert Luskin, who has talked repeatedly with Solomon and Yost in the past, both on the record and (apparently) not. I have no possible theory for why Luskin would claim his client was still in legal jeopardy if he wasn't. (As a matter of fact, I'm not entirely sure why he would admit to an ongoing probe at all.)

Whether or not Rove is ever charged with anything is less important than simply finding out the facts of what happened in the White House to lead multiple senior officials, Rove and Libby apparently foremost among them, on a press spree outing a NOC agent to at least six Washington journalists.

However, I would love to see Rove go down in flames.

This video, a bit over 3 minutes, is from the wonderful Can-o-Fun site. We owe a great debt of thanks to whoever captures puts the videos up there. (I think at least some of them are from DUer liveoaktx.)

The statement makes it clear that Fitzgerald has told Luskin (Rove's lawyer) that no decision has yet been reached on whether to indict Rove, as the OP of this thread says. He is still in "legal jeopardy." Those who are bemoaning his "escape" do so prematurely.

for us all to share. It's a major contribution and there are only a few people who do it. If you like, I'll PM you when I find out and we can set up a juicy appreciation thread for liveoaktx (who I know does at least SOME of this work) and dzika (David Edwards) who has been DU's stalwart video king and still posts at BradBlog and Crooks & Liars.

It must be a pain to do all that work and then set up and maintain a web site to host it. They do something crucially important and they deserve our heartfelt thanks.
