The Libby Indictment: It's About the War
Time for Congress to Uncover ALL the Manipulation
The indictment of Vice President Cheney's Chief of Staff "Scooter" Libby should only be the beginning. Take action and demand that Congress investigate the entire Iraq conspiracy.
Dear helderheid,
Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald has just indicted Vice President Cheney's Chief of Staff “Scooter” Libby in the Valerie Plame spy case.1 He was involved in leaking national security information in order to smear a government whistle-blower who exposed falsehoods used to justify America’s attack on Iraq.
This is an indictment of the entire system of deception that got us into Iraq, and it’s about time.
But this is only the beginning — and should not be the end — of uncovering the corrupt conspiracy that led America to Fallujah and Abu Ghraib and the war without end in the Middle East.

http://action.truemajority.org/campaign/libbyindictment What Libby did was un-American, and according to the federal prosecutor, it was illegal. But this doesn’t stop with him. Who else was involved in manipulating us into this catastrophic war?
The United States Congress — even if it is run by the president’s party — has the responsibility to provide checks and balances on the executive branch. This constitutional obligation cannot be waived to guard the backs of political allies. America’s proudest moments as a democracy have come when this pioneering governing arrangement has been used to publicly right wrongs that some sought to keep secret.
Now is one of those times. It’s time to learn the truth, and it’s long past time for Congress to act.
Thanks for seeking the truth,

Here's the message we'll send to your congresspeople:
Dear Senator/Representative,
Now that Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald has brought charges against I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, it’s time Congress took action to disclose the full truth about how this nation was “sold” the Iraq invasion. Congress, through its own investigations or by calling on the Justice Department to expand Mr. Fitzgerald’s mandate, should expose the truth about the sources of misleading information used by senior members of the Bush administration before Congress and the UN Security Council to support its case for war.
The American people deserve the truth.
Please call for full disclosure of illegal or unethical actions by the Bush administration in making the case for the Iraq war.
