I feel like crying.
Just watching Patrick Fitzgerald stand up there and have SO much respect for the law and SO much dignity, and hold his duty to this country in such high regard is such an awesome sight that I want to cry. There is such a derth of people like him, especially in power in this country, and he makes these criminals look even worse in comparison.

You have to look at this guy ans see that he is the solution to what is wrong with this world.

14. Yeah there are so many people that just can't be satisfied...
...with the incredible progress that occurred today.

It's mindboggling.

What did these people think paddywagons were going to show up at the whitehouse and the entire BushCo mafia were going to be led away in handcuffs in one fell swoop?

It never works that way. One by one. Slowly. Carefully. Deliberately. That's how justice works at this level.

And yes, the entire BushCo mafia is sweating, as this and other investigations proceed.

So what's your gripe?

If these folks didn't have 1000+ posts I'd suspect a psyops astroturf campaign to try to ruin morale on the left. But since it seems that's not the case, all I can say is cheer the goddamn hell up.

20. Truth and Justice are the very reasons for our government. It is very
good to know that the Fitz's of the world exist, for they are few in number currently. The current administration mouths complex ideas like freedom, truth, justice, democracy, but thier actions belie their speech. Fitz speaks the truth simply and eloquently. Truth is always simple. Lies are complex. The entire world saw this good today, and the whole world is just as hungry as we are for truth and justice.

It was a joy to listen to someone so logical, so focused, and so immune to the bullshit that usually accompanies these things. I'd almost forgotten that there were such people in public service.

he made me feel proud. His focus, the way he did put our national security in the public eye. Even though we at DU knew this, I'm sure many people in this country had NO idea. Fitz spoke in plain language that people can understand, that's a gift. Didn't you love the way he said her cover was blown. He reminded me at time's of Larry Johnson, who said the exact same thing...only most people never saw the C-Span hearings - held in the basement.

For the first time in 135 years, someone in the inner circle of the WH blew the cover of a CIA agent. At least now, most of America will know what this indictment means.

Thanks Fitz...:patriot:

I was so thrilled to have someone from this administration held accountable for the treachery of this administration.

5 years of lies, abuse, refusal to acknowledge mistakes.. and the simple arrogance and disregard for truth; it was nice to see a human being up there just telling it how it is. Standing up for american principles and values.. the dream of Justice in this country is slowly blooming again.

I kept thinking.. That briefcase Fitz is always walking around with.. was like pandora's box for me.. the only left in it was hope.. and he didn't disappointment me one bit.

And I know it's just a movie, but I was watching this old movie a week ago called "Fail-Safe" about a nuclear accident (made in 1964) and Henry Fonda played the president and he was working SO DAMN hard to fix things, to make things right. He was thoughtful, smart, and deliberate. He had great diplomacy. Thought decisions through thoroughly.

I was sitting there marveling. I haven't seen a president like that in.....well, five years or so.

I couldn't stop listening to the Fitzgerald press conference today. He struck me as a truly good person.

I felt very proud watching it.. that sounds odd. But it felt like history, it felt important. It felt like for once, something fucking went right in the system. Fitzgerald would make a fine Time Magazine Person of the Year. I can't even fathom being that cool and calm and collected during a press conference like that. Scotty McClellan should take notes.

Fitzgerald definitely had a Bobby Kennedy vibe.

61. History...I agree.
A chill kind of ran up my spine, as it always does when you witness something so good that it has to go down in history as one of those times that truth and freedom won out in the end. I almost had kind a flash forward when I heard Fitz speak of me in my older years telling my children and grandshildren about the time democracy lost its way, and a mild-mannered prosecutor named Pat Fitzgerald had to bring it back again.

You couldn't make a Hollywood movie even half as good.

tell em that's what a real lawman looks like, not these crooks who've infested the white house, the justice department, congress and all our other american institutions

63. I took a late lunch to watch
and listened to the end at work. And when it was over someone else asked me how I felt, and I said, "I feel proud." Today I got to see integrity, and it felt good.

71. Fitzgerald embodies what ....
all is still good about this country and our system. It gave me such hope as I watched a man, an extremely intelligent good man, do his job and do it well.

He showed those of us who were raised to believe in truth & justice and what this country stood for still exists.

For 5 years I've had the same mantra going on in my head....."I want my country back!". As I watched, Fitzgerald made me believe it can happen.

The finest gift to give someone is hope.

73. It occured to me
in the US; why even bother to go into politics or even serve in a capacity like Fitz's? A thankless job and I believe more than ever that in the US and certainly Canada the majority of people who go into politics are not the best and brightest. We are all being managed and manipulated by the mediocre.
