Have you noticed the debates are a set up for the candidates?
to attack one another, or as I have seen with some modererators on CNN , Faux, and MSGOP to try and make Wesley Clark look like a rube. I do not like our candidates being set up like this. The "fax" incident was set up by CNN (IMHO)to put the other candidates on attack mode. In other words the RW media is trying to discredit our candidates.

I also saw from that horrible Gloria Borger (CNBC)asking the candidates to be detailed, succinct on complicated issues to answer her questions in one minute. (WTF???) That is not realistic and these RW media shills should be called on it by the candidates. This is a set up IMHO to make our candidates look inadequate.

Again, the candidates should be calling the mods on their questions more aggressively and telling them like Sharpton did not to take it out of their time.

1. I am on the defensive
and do not think the media is going to work for our candidates. After the media ecstasy over the Gropinator.

2. I know I know. Democrats have to start calling the media/RW on their...
...methods. Once viewers were told what to look for, it will be harder for those techniques to work.

Sometimes I think Democrats have too much faith in the public to understand the core principles of liberalism and how they differ from Republicans and why the work for working class and middle class people. Other times I think the Democrats don't have enough faith in the public's ability to understand all the BULLSHIT the Republicans do to skew reality.

3. This race againist Shrub is too important
we have to become vocal about these RW shills running these debates and trying to make our candidates look like inadequate screw ups (oh they try, but they cannot quite succeed). I would hope that this gets back to several of our nominees, not to take the RW medias crap and call them on it.

4. These primary debates are a total disaster!
They are giving the Republicans endless soundbites to throw at us for decades and they are indeed making the candidates look awful.

Why in the world did they agree to these debates?

I just do not understand what planet they live on. Virtually every DUer knows that Judy Woodruff, for example, is a total whore and wants to destroy the Dems and the American people. Why don't the candidates know that??????

Oh, well, I'm just a little person and they would never listen to me.

5. I know we feel like little people
but there must be something we can do. I am not giving up on this. The fight to get Shrub 43 out of office is too important.

6. The debates are free publicity
Sure there are too many attacks but would we rather there be NO debates? Personnaly I would like to see the field culled down a few so that it's not a joke next year when the debates start to matter.

7. The dems should just stage their own debates.. make it an actual debate
Edited on Sat Oct-11-03 11:40 PM by SoCalDem
really a series of debates would have been the best..

economy
foreign policy
education
health care
energy
voting reform

ONE ISSUE per debate..

allow each candidate 5-10 minutes ..uninterrupted to actually state their case and the second half for rebuttal between candidates..

NO MODERATOR NEEDED...just a stopwatch person..

We are being suckered..They know it, but are so eager for "facetime" that they are willing to overlook it..

It's a disgusting format that is used now, and it should not be encouraged..

The Alan Colmes school of debating should NOT be our desired approach
