Leak indictments would be 'a sad day,' Wilson says
<snip>
Visiting Seattle on the eve of possible grand jury indictments against top White House advisers over the leak of his wife's identity as an undercover CIA officer, former U.S. Ambassador Joseph Wilson said it was "a sad day for our country."

<snip>
"The fact that this may become a crisis of governance should please no one," Wilson said at a private hotel reception before speaking in downtown Seattle Wednesday evening.

<snip>
"It is called holding your government to account for what it says and does in the name of the American people. We need to put this government on notice that it truly is a government of the people, by the people and for the people.

"When a government takes the country to war on lies and misinformation," he said to rousing applause, "that government ceases to be a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

"And that government becomes a government that preys on the people."

7. Are you referring to me or Joe Wilson?
I want my country back. "Fitzmas" as you call it, is necessary to get the country back into the hands of the people, per the Constitution of the United States of America.

I share Mr. Wilson's view that it's really not a cause for 'pleasure', yet it's necessary and must be done.

13. I was responding to 8 year old nightmare...who seemed to imply
that Wilson wasn't a fan of 'Fitzmas'. I didn't understand his/her remark.

21. Sorry, I was referring to Joe Wilson.
After reading his latest comments ("sad day for our country" & "the fact that this may become a crisis of governance should please no one"), I was wondering how he would view the term "Fitzmas": Would he think it may be too celebratory or presumptuous, particularly at this point.

10. that is exactly why i don't care for the term either
and i think democrats in general should take a somber tone, not a gleeful one.

they must be held to account for their actions, but their actions have been disastrous for the country. it's no laughing matter

more had to be turned away. Contrast this:

Greeted by a boisterous, packed house of about 900 people at Seattle's Town Hall, Wilson said that by publicly questioning the president's reasoning for the war in Iraq, he was simply acting in the country's best traditions.

with Bill Kristol's statement on FOX, I believe, that when he was in Seattle the previous week, people who came to his talk -- "all thirty six of them, the entire population of conservatives in Seattle" -- were all demoralized over Miers' nomination...

19. Lol! Thanks for posting, I had to miss it. Fortunately the Seattle Channel
will probably air it soon. Not the same, I know, but I love the Seattle Channel for showing these talks.

12. Was thinking the same thing this a.m. I am happy, but very sad.
Elated that the sociopaths destroying our country may be stopped. Sad that it has come to this. That stealing this country was like taking candy from a baby. What does that say about the American people? Very sad. And also it is very sad that so much terrible damage has been done. And how very long it will take to repair the damage.

15. I can't believe that I'm planning to celebrate a day
that says so many awful things about our elected officials.

If indictments are issued, it's going to be a very bittersweet day.

17. Bittersweet, yes indeed. Relief, elation, sadness, anger.
Anger that the corruption and evil have gone on so long.
And so much damage done.

18. I think of it as perverse glee.
Of which I'm not the least bit ashamed. Bush and his nimrods have been screwing the American people--and the rest of the world--for five years. Nothing would give me greater satisfaction than to see them hauled off to prison. Frog march, baby--frog march!

22. To begin to regain a Democracy is a joyful thing.
Let the shame, sorrow and angst fall to those who would trample truth and our rights.

However, it is clear that many responsible for these injustices are incapable of feeling remorse or sadness at what they have wrought.

I imagine some of the guilty will make a grand show of it at some point in time.
