3 Months Earlier: Cheney Told Libby That Plame Sent Her Husband to Niger. The Washington Post reported that, three months earlier, on June 12, 2003, Cheney's chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby Jr. met with Cheney and "recorded in his notes that Cheney relayed to him that Wilson's wife may have had a role in Wilson taking the CIA-sponsored mission to Niger."
