Prosecutor Winding Up CIA Leak Probe

By Pete Yost, John Solomon and Associated Press Writers
WASHINGTON (AP) - Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald met Wednesday with the grand jury investigating the leak of a CIA officer's identity, looking to put finishing touches on a two-year criminal probe that has ensnared two senior White House aides.

Fitzgerald and the grand jurors entered the courthouse around 9 a.m. EDT, with just three days left before the jury's term is set to expire. Away from the jury, FBI agents conducted a handful of last-minute interviews to check facts key to the case.

Lawyers representing key White House officials expected Fitzgerald to decide as early as Wednesday whether to charge I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, who is Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, and top presidential political adviser Karl Rove.

Both Rove and Libby joined other officials Wednesday at the daily White House senior staff meeting, as usual.

26. About 7 minutes straight on WH/pending indictments
now it's on to the 2000 US dead in Iraq. A really dark day for Team Bush. Seems it will finally be as dark for them as it has been for so many of their victims, American, Iraqi and others.

Let the reckoning begin!

55. Walked out from getting my coffee this morning and several papers
on the stand have the number 2000 is big bold type. No hiding. I was surprised. Felt like the checker guy and I at 7-11 shared a special moment today. He wished me Merry Fitzmas - and I wished him one right back. People in line looked at us like we were nuts. That would include my husband, who is getting a bit tired of me singing Fitzmas carols.

49. Reasonable question, but there is no way to know.
We don't know if some of the voting on the indictments has happened earlier or not.

If its multiple criminal offenses with multiple counts, they may need to review each circumstance and vote on each.

If it's just a formality of presenting the indictments in court it could be short.

I personally think the GJ will be done by noon, that will leave Fitz an afternoon to get any/all indictments into the court records.

59. Fitz's last minute running around is driving me bonkers
The FBI still trotting around the Wilson neighborhood to make sure the neighbors swear they didn't know who she was before the leak and Fitz doing a last minute roundup of lower level staff members yesterday, etc. That makes my stomach jump and ask "why the last minute--isn't this all nailed down". Your right about the networks just waiting. It's dull and they are rerunning every story that's been on the news for a week just waiting for SHOW TIME!!!
