I'm as excited as anyone about the Fitzmas Season. But right now we all need to take some time away from the holiday joy to mark the horrendous landmark that the bad boys of Fitzmas have brought us to.
The toll of U.S. troops killed in Iraq
reached 2000 today - and no end in sight. This in addition, of course, to the more than 15,000 wounded, and the uncounted tens of thousands of Iraqi casualties.
Tomorrow, we rise up together to vent our dismay and grief and anger and betrayal over this atrocity of a war. We must stand up in such numbers that the crooks in Washington will not be able to ignore the wave of public outrage any longer.
Where will you be? There are events planned all across the country. If you can't find one near you, start one!
Calls for action are going out from Cindy Sheehan, from military families' and veterans' groups, from Moveon.org, United for Peace and Justice, Democracy for America, Code Pink, and on and on.
