Good News At The Pumps?
Yesterday afternoon while watching CNN I heard a couple mentions of us getting some good news at the pumps soon, despite the fact that we have Hurricane Wilma about to make landfall. Did they every follow up with that "good news". I never heard any details.

1. Well, it has gone down by 50 cents since last month.
I was paying $3 per gallon last month. All of the stations in my area are around $2.57 now.

Okay, kidding, kidding. Gas prices aren't your fault. They're everyone's fault. :-) Here in Oregon, in my area anyway, they're still gouging us for $2.55-$2.67 for regular.

17. Paid $2.29 East of Pittsburgh this morning.
My guess is they'll go down a bit more in the next few days - oil is below $60 a barrel.

4. Hi AD
Yeah, gas hasn't exceeded $3.00, isn't that great news. Condition the public to appreciate their fate. Raise prices a dollar a gallon and then reduce it .20 cents a gallon; great freaking news. I remember buying gas in Fayetteville for .25 cents a gallon in the early 70's, the good old days when gas wars were intense. We evacuated from Katrina in South Mississippi to the inlaws in Kansas. I saw the Van Buren Exit on I-40 as we drove north from 71. Beautiful country.

8. Ain't that the truth .....
Conditioning indeed. The woman working at the gas station last night told me I should be glad that kerosene is only $3.29 a gallon. It went down a whole 20 cents dangit! I had to remind her it was only $1.79 last year. She says that's because we're all using "foreign" oil, as opposed to our huge supplies of American petroleum. :eyes:

9. Thank ya! We're kinda proud of "home"
I grew up in the Prairie Grove area and it is very close to Fayetteville! I remember those prices and those gas wars too!

What is wrong with my logic? I've always heard that gasoline costs more to produce than diesel and now diesel costs more than gasoline????

In my business, fuel prices mean everything!!!

13. Wow!
I went to Fayetteville High and lived in Farmington when I went to the University (79 Grad). I still got money in Farmer's and Merchants in Prairie Grove. Great little part of the world. I'm not sure of the price discrepancy but I've always noticed that Diesel cost less then gas.

7. The sheeple are getting restless
We must give some relief.
As someone else said, they raise it .50 and then lower it .25 to make you appreciative that it is lower.
It's a shell game--nothing more.

12. Good news! We're only getting screwed half as much!

And the oil companies will only make half as much obscene profit! Good news!

:)

16. It's just another damn dog and pony show
Gas has come down from the $300 plus milestone, but still over the $2.00/gal mark, here in Missouri I'm paying $2.39/gal. Better than the $3.19 we were paying a month ago, but still much much more than the $1.59/gal I was paying this time last year.

This is all a dog and pony show to condition the American public into accepting rising gasoline prices. Sure, the price will come down for now, but in about a month it will start to go up as the holiday travel seasons come upon us and home heating demands start to kick in. Meanwhile oil companies will continue to make record profits, and gouge the American public for every last cent.

Just another example of the corporate three card monty. No matter how close you watch, or what you do, you're going to get screwed.
