Edited on Sun Oct-23-05 03:18 PM by Atman
It is entirely possible that the chain may be acquired by The Carlyle Group.

Yes, THAT Carlyle group.

Letter writing campaign to DD, telling them no one will EVERY buy their shitty coffee again if it is making profits to funnel into the war machine? Boycott?

Dunkin Donuts already makes the worst coffee this side of a Texaco station I once stopped at at 3:00 along I-95, but this is just horrible. BTW, two other DD holdings are also part of the proposed deal.

2. Carlyle acquiring White Castle, I could understand
"Gut Buster" sliders (slide through and bust the gut) sorta sound like "Bunker Busters" military arms. But Dunkin Donuts? What - are they going to go after the beat cops next? Do something to the coffee - so there is more frequent sick leave... in order to have cause for "privatizing" local police forces?

Okay - being facetious - but seems like a long stretch of diversification of an acquisition.

3. I hate chain made donuts
I like my donuts that the little independent, usually a Chinese or Korean ran, store makes. I don’t know why, but the donuts the Asians make are just yummier... :)

Krispy Kreme is seeing some dark days -- and we're not just talking about chocolate glaze. The company, which operates its popular chain of doughnut shops with about 390 locations in 44 states and international locations, has seen its popularity and cult status steadily decline. Multiple controversial financial events rocked the company throughout 2004, including an ongoing SEC investigation and numerous late company filings. Franchisees operate almost two-thirds of the chain's locations. In January 2005 CEO Scott Livengood was replaced by restructuring expert Stephen Cooper as CEO. Steven Panagos is functioning as president and COO.
