Possible MO for Woodruff's moderation?
Edited on Fri Oct-10-03 04:02 PM by jpgray
1) Under the guise of "showing voters the differences", stir up as much trouble as possible between the candidates.

2) Take up most of the major candidates' time by forcing them to explain personal errata and stances that were many years old and long since explained and clarified. Bring up supposed "waffles", "scandals" and other inconsistencies that have been exhaustively explained many times--indeed usually explained to the moderator's news organization more than once.

3) Digging up petty inconsistencies and misstatements in Democratic candidates is much more important and worthwhile than reporting on forged Niger documents--that could take up to eight months. Show a tenacity and awareness of context that seems to magically disappear when reviewing two Bush administration speeches a few months apart.

4) Always preface questions by implying the Democratic Party will lose, is out of touch, and can't field a worthwhile candidate. Also act incredulous at the answers as often as possible.

5) Play "gotcha" games by presenting hypothetical scenarios that have little or no resemblance to the situations they are compared to. Also, translate any candidate's layered and complex answer into a basic undesirable action and ask a follow-up question accordingly.

(I read the transcripts, and damn if most of our guys and gals aren't doing great! The only one who is slipping a little is Lieberman, but Edwards and Gephardt really tore up the field, and the rest did fine! I was thinking this would be another Sharpton runaway, but he and Kucinich only had the disctinction of the most intelligently worded answers.)

3. Woodruff is a Bushie
She adores Poppy and is on constant patrol to "soften" Democratic politicians responses.

If I had a dime for every time she's upbraided a Dem like Ted Kennedy with the old admonishment, "Those are serious charges against the President!"

Also, the fact that Bush acolytes Candy Cowley and Jeff Greenbacks were the other two moderators during the Dem debate last night proves that the "left wing media" is a myth.

Cowley was the CIA's CNN operative primarily assigned to castigate and ridicule Gore before and during the 2000 campaign and Greenbacks wrote a book accusing the Gore team of trying to fix the vote in Florida. Of course, totally ignoring the Cruella-Jeb-DBT voter scrubbing scandal that was so accurately reported on by Greg Palast.
http://www.gregpalast.com/detail.cfm?artid=55&row=1

Of course, greenbacks soon had a regular gig on CNN soon after that book was published. He even got his own show. In which he sucked at. In which he droopped the line, "George W Bush appeals to the common man because he's so LIKEABLE.", so many times that I'm sure he's been indoctrinated at a Moonie-Poppy covert re-education center.

Absolutely sickening.

4. Agree they all did great! You forgot intrerrupt and sneer
Edited on Fri Oct-10-03 04:22 PM by robbedvoter
After cutting Clark off 3 times she made a disgusted face then turned to the "class" - anyone can do better than this idiot?
My favorite moment was when Sharpton smacked her when intrerrupted: "Are you taking this out of my time?" and the best: "You talk as he (bush) won - HE DID NOT WIN!" - at that point she just mumbled something and ran to the opposite end of the stage. She didn't intrerrupt Sharpton again (nor did she Kerry, Gephardt or Lieberman).
Greenfield was even more disgusting with his Rush like questions. Candy managed to be the least offensive (compared to the other two)
Also the most blatant (I wrote CNN about it): forbidding candidates to attack bush!!!!!!!
If you missed it, C_Span will air it ar 6:30 PM EDT on Sunday.

7. I thought that the FOX debate...
...would have been the closest we'd come to having a debate at the RNC convention, but I guess the CBC kept that from happening. The CNN debate might as well have been held at a GOP fundraiser from the way the "moderators" conducted it.

8. My email to Judy -
Dear Judy,
If you can not be an objective moderator for debates, I wish you would hand the job over to someone else. A moderator is there to moderate not antagonize. And you were absolutely rude, butting in before the candidates got half a sentence out. I have already stopped watching your show Inside Politics, since you insist on calling Bush "a popular wartime president". This man occupying the Oval office lied to take us to war, and he and all his cohorts should be charged with war crimes.
But, I digress, please do us a favor, if you cannot moderate recuse yourself, and try being more polite.

11. I hate the C word!
And I don't need to be vulgar to get my point across. I'll leave the name calling and infantile behavior up to Rush and his ilk. :)

12. Woodruff and Hunt were publicly confronted by a drunk dubya...
...during Poppy Bush's campaign. He saw them at a restaurant and stumbled over to their table to unload on Hunt (Woodruff's husband) for some perceived journalistic slight against his daddy. The episode occurred years after dubya had supposedly put his drinking days behind him for good, but Hunt said, afterward, that junior was shitfaced (my word).

13. uh-huh
...and Woodruff found his drunken antics so impressive that she continues to crow that he's such a strong war-time pResident.

Some people just like abusive and loutish behavior, I suppose.

Did you all see Crowley openly appear disgusted at even having to be in the same room with so many Democrats? She looked nauseated, and her little pig eyes were like slits.

What an 'impartial' panel. Kangaroo court was more like it.
