collect calls from the hijacked airplane? He claimed that she had been separated from her purse, so she called him on the seatback phone collect at the state department, somehow getting through several layers of phone banks without leaving a trace.

It was a big deal a couple of years ago, with many people finding his story hard to believe. So I emailed the airline and asked if it was possible to call collect on those phones, not saying why I was asking. They said no.

Man lied about his own wife's death to earn sympathy. Sick piece of shit. In case we needed more proof. He was dating someone else a few months later.
