Brown needed more time to finish dinner, ie New Orleans
Looks like Brown was too busy trying to finish his dinner in Baton Rouge before dealing with the chaos in New Orleans.

As Josh Marshall put it, it was worse than you think.

Like I and many others have said, Brown should be prosecuted for his criminal negligence of running FMEA into the ground.

from yahoo news
<snip>
Later, on Aug. 31, Bahamonde frantically e-mailed Brown to tell him that thousands are evacuees were gathering in the streets with no food or water and that "estimates are many will die within hours."

"Sir, I know that you know the situation is past critical," Bahamonde wrote.

Less than three hours later, however, Brown's press secretary wrote colleagues to complain that the FEMA director needed more time to eat dinner at a Baton Rouge restaurant that evening. "He needs much more that (sic) 20 or 30 minutes," wrote Brown aide Sharon Worthy.

"We now have traffic to encounter to go to and from a location of his choise (sic), followed by wait service from the restaurant staff, eating, etc. Thank you."

3. This &^$hole needs be tried for negligent homicide.
I agree with Cynthia McKinney--if the nursing home and hospital people could be brought up on charges, so should DHS and FEMA people who stood in the way of delivery of assistance at a critical time.

7. This transends mere incompetence and stupidity ...
I agree with you and McKinney ... his actions were nothing short of immoral and criminal.

4. See...
We all thought that Brownie was incompetent. Well according to the Bush standard he is MORE then competent for the FEMA job. After all, Bush and McCain ate birthday cake, Condi shopped for shoes, and Cheney was house hunting during the hurricane.

I realize that fine dining can be a time consuming process...

:wtf:

5. At least he wasn't eating birthday cake, and strumming a guitar
and playing golf, and watching a baseball game, and riding a bike, and cutting brush, and lounging at the ranch...

12. In the middle of a crisis ...
... shoving twinkies in your mouth and washing them down with black coffee has been known to substitute for a meal.
