A question for the Admins re: the new layout of DU

The new layout, from my perspective, is just fine. But it occurs to me that we're about to enter a time when the traffic here could be the highest in the history of DU.

How do we know when we're on Defcon 2 or Defcon 3? Will the notices appear where they always did? Will something be pinned to the greatest and latest pages?

Just askin' .... not complainin'.

2. I noticed a day or two ago that we were on Level 1. They

posted this under the "announcements" section on the right side of the page. (At least I think this is where I remember seeing it.)

Edit: I forgot to mention "Announcements" shows up when you're following threads from the "Latest" page.

3. There are alerts displayed under announcements when

all hell breaks loose on DU. They aren't as visible as with the old format, but they are there (on the right side, in red, IIRC).
