It's the opinion of the Grand Jury (and subsequently trial jury) that matters. The talking heads have no details and are just guessing and rationalizing. I wouldn't watch 'em if I were you...or me. :)

9. In my opinion

Matthews is very excited about the case, and may actually be honest about his involvement. Still, his attempts to be "even-handed" has failed on some levels.

However, in his defense, I think it is important to recognize that in his opinion, what might happen in Washington poses serious risks to our form of government. Now, before you think I've cracked up, I would remind people that in the time of Watergate, there were serious concerns about what direction the conflict could take the nation in.

I think that the risks of confronting the evil of this administration are far, far less than the risks of not confronting them. But I can respect people like Matthews who feel differently.

I watched the hearings every single day, Sam Ervin, Richard Ben-Veniste, John Dean, John Erlichman, et al.
The hearings were most civil, even at times humorous.
I know there were, of course, a plethora of articles on and discussions about Nixon'x government.
But I definitely do not recall any "concerns about" the "direction" of the Federal government. Indeed, when Nixon gave his "I remember Mama" resignation speech, it was calmly accepted by the nation. We knew Ford was going to take the reins.

How could Joe Wilson bear any of the blame? The Niger documents were false. The reference to yellowcake in the SOTU speech was based on lies. Wilson's wife was outed as a consequence of Wilson's report. I'd be curious to know how creative an argument Hayes could have in placing any kind of blame with Wilson. I've heard Hayes before in the media saying that Wilson was a liar, but I never have heard what he bases these generlizations on. What exactly did Hayes say and on what facts did he base it?
