Does Chris Matthews really believe that Cheney is that naive?
Or is the little weasel still sucking up? How can he possibly believe that a control freak who was living down at the CIA headquarters wasn't micromanaging this act of treason?

1. Chris just LOVES Cheney. He always has. He doesn't want to believe he
Edited on Tue Oct-18-05 06:36 PM by jsamuel
outed a CIA undercover OP on purpose.

He doesn't really know, so he is framing the question the way he thinks it might have happened.

3. matthews is the lowest of the low, especially in this little charade
he's been BEFORE that grand jury, you'll recall

if you don't think he knows one hell of a lot more than he's talking about onair, I've got another country for us to invade

lookit who he had on to analyze the scene tonight: Gergen and Buchanan

NObody who'd express the proper outrage that TREASON against this country has been committed

have they EVER mentioned WHIG, OSP, or the Jennings/Brewster, etal?

please don't waste your time discussing these cretins' worthless (largely because they're holding back) opinions on this worse-than-Watergate fiasco

2. Who cares what Tweety thinks?
It's the opinion of the Grand Jury (and subsequently trial jury) that matters. The talking heads have no details and are just guessing and rationalizing. I wouldn't watch 'em if I were you...or me. :)

4. I'm thankful Tweety has devoted his shows to the CIA leak story, though
He's the only one who has turned his show over to Plamegate, basically.

I also don't get the impression that he LIKES Cheney -- if anything, he seems to have been gunning for "Scooter" all along, as if he's suspected Libby's involvement even when others weren't mentioning him.

8. Yeah, you're refreshing my memory
That was TOTALLY LAME.

I'm just thankful for his coverage of the story -- especially the openings when he mentioned stuff like "White House is in panic" or "the White House is trying to overlook the ten-ton explosive under the West Wing."

5. Tweety believes what he is told to believe
Otherwise they would kick his pompous, pie faced, idiotic mug to the curb.

9. In my opinion
Matthews is very excited about the case, and may actually be honest about his involvement. Still, his attempts to be "even-handed" has failed on some levels.

However, in his defense, I think it is important to recognize that in his opinion, what might happen in Washington poses serious risks to our form of government. Now, before you think I've cracked up, I would remind people that in the time of Watergate, there were serious concerns about what direction the conflict could take the nation in.

I think that the risks of confronting the evil of this administration are far, far less than the risks of not confronting them. But I can respect people like Matthews who feel differently.

13. There were?
I watched the hearings every single day, Sam Ervin, Richard Ben-Veniste, John Dean, John Erlichman, et al.
The hearings were most civil, even at times humorous.
I know there were, of course, a plethora of articles on and discussions about Nixon'x government.
But I definitely do not recall any "concerns about" the "direction" of the Federal government. Indeed, when Nixon gave his "I remember Mama" resignation speech, it was calmly accepted by the nation. We knew Ford was going to take the reins.

16. While the hearings
were a significant part of the national Watergate experience, they were not, of course, the entire experience.

10. Matthews is a bar room kind of guy who slings any old shit just to
keep the pot boiling. One day everybody loves the guy here, the next day everybody hates him, it sounds like he is doing a pretty good job at it.

11. He thinks WE are that naive.
He loses nothing---financially, socially, professionally---by acting the Candide here. He's hedging his future D.C. soiree bets.

He is spewing so many non-facts that he is laughable.

So I e-mailed him and told him that.

14. Tweety has Stephen Hayes, liar from the Weekly Standard
is on - and is trying to blame Joe Wilson. Believe it or not, Fineman said Joe Wilson is almost beside the point right now and that all of this will be determined in court.

15. I refuse to watch Matthews anymore - what did Hayes say?
How could Joe Wilson bear any of the blame? The Niger documents were false. The reference to yellowcake in the SOTU speech was based on lies. Wilson's wife was outed as a consequence of Wilson's report. I'd be curious to know how creative an argument Hayes could have in placing any kind of blame with Wilson. I've heard Hayes before in the media saying that Wilson was a liar, but I never have heard what he bases these generlizations on. What exactly did Hayes say and on what facts did he base it?
