Dumb Question--Did Gonzales recuse himself from The leak investigation?
I read at Bloomberg that "Gonzales theoretically must approve any indictments"
The link no longer works so I'm sorry i don't have the story.

1. Yes, I noted this in another thread
As former WH counsel, he cannot get involved. The Deputy under Ashcroft and later Alberto did the choosing of the special prosecutor. He has moved on to a new job, and the guy in the job now is a Bush crony, so he may also have to recuse himself.

Could be the cleaning lady that ends up approving the indictments.

That was sloppy reporting by that reporter...

2. No, Ashcroft did.
I believe Gonzales does need to approve any indictments, but I'm not particularly well-informed concerning this... so I'm sure someone will come along and answer this correctly. :)

3. Can you imagine the uproar if Fitz wanted to issue indictments...
...and "Abu Al" said, "No?" We're talking peasants with torches and pitchforks storming the castle here. The * regime would be forced to declare martial law, even without bird flu....

5. Doesn't Fitz literally have the power of an
Attorney General? That's what I understood. Abu Al wouldn't have to approve or disapprove anything.
