SAN ANTONIO - Hands off the Saints
The Mayor of San Antonio is making overtures of having the Saints move permanently to San Antonio. Nothing better than kicking a city when its down. Keep your damn hands off the Saints.

Source: radio report on WWL in New Orleans.

1. I heard they might move the team to LA
I doubt it though because LA is a shitty NFL city.

8. We don't need no stinkin' professional football team

And we sure ain't spending any taxpayer dollars on it.

Besides, we have USC.

16. Its kind of funny the USC and UCLA will pack the stands but pro-football
is such a hard sell in LA. There have been three pro-footrball teams in LA, Rams, Raider and the 1960 Chargers. All three have since left the City of Angels.

2. San Antonio can have 'em.
They're like the Chicago Cubs but with no "curse" to blame their suckiness on.

j/k

Honestly, give them time to fix up NO and the Saints will stay in town; I think NFL owners have learned from the Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts debacle, and moving the Saints now would see far, far too big a backlash from it.

7. No Curse?
The Superdome was built on top of a VooDoo graveyard. Saints - Cubs. No comparison what so ever. The Saints have heart and Soul and cool uniforms and a mystical history and they belong to the greatest city in the world. The Cubs have what? - Ivy?

10. Technically, they've got the "billy goat curse"...
Basically, just a crappy excuse to explain why they haven't won a WS since Taft.

I remember hearing something about the voodoo graveyard, but not much about it. I like the Saints, and I'm pulling for them, but you get kind of cynical after this long without doing anything in the playoffs.

I still like them, though.

12. The Superdome actually was built on top of an old graveyard
During the construction, caskets were unearthed. The Saints have won one playoff game in 30 years. Ya can't say they are lucky. And the dome is walking distance to the French Quarter. What other team has that going for them?

11. The Saints didn't show any heart or soul in Green Bay.

15. They are consistently inconsistent
They sucked against Green Bay then they beat the hell out of Atlanta this week in every category except turnovers, stupid penalties (or bad calls, take your pick) and the final score.

Allow me a bit of sports editorializing:

Brett Favre's offense against the Saints: 52 points

Michael Vick's offense against the Saints: 10 points

3. Supposedly, the NFL won't allow it
They supposedly want a team in Louisiana in 2006 no matter what. But, the owner of the Saints is from San Antonio and they are a business enterprise. Btw, the Saints got robbed yesterday imo.

4. If the owner of the Saints moves the team he will be a seriously
marked man.

NOLA is a great Saints town. If he does move I bet they won't let his dumb ass take the name.

9. I agree with you wholeheartedly...
But, I'm afraid its going to happen. Over the weekend, I heard if work can be done on the Dome, it will take 16 months which is through next season. At some point, Benson will declare that the state defaulted on the lease.

13. SA has tried to get a NFL team for years, the Alamodome was
built to attract one, and one never came. I would be surprized if this happened. Perhaps they will be there until NOLA can take them back, and then they can get their own expansion team if it goes well. SA is just afraid that the NFL won't give them one.

14. SAs been desperate for a NFL team, see
we built this HUGH WASTE of a dome (Alamodome) in hopes that the Vikings would move down here. We should just be happy with the SPURS (hello! NBA champs, again!) and leave the Saints alone. IMO, host their games until they build a new Superdome.

17. A San Antonian says: NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
No "Ain'ts!" Please don't curse us with them! We don't need no stinking football team, much less a bunch of losers like that!

You wouldn't believe how many people I saw walking around in Saints jerseys yesterday. Made me wanna puke.
