Will we actually end up thanking Ken Starr for Bush's ultimate demise?
Think Progress article: "UPDATE: Leak Scandal Continues To Grow"

Despite the fact that Rove’s attorney, Robert Luskin, claims his client was not part of “any scheme to punish Joe Wilson by disclosing the identity of his wife,” the special prosecutor appears to be exploring the White House’s expansive involvement in manipulating pre-war Iraqi intelligence and their efforts to silence whistle-blowers, like Wilson, who exposed them.

We can now thank Ken Starr Chamber for giving Republicans _no room_ to complain about an ever-widening scope of this investigation. In fact, Kenny boy Starr went so far off the deep end, with his antics carving such deep scar tissue in the mindset of most Americans, Republicans have practically no room to maneuver, unless they want to create even more damage for themselves. (although, strangely enough, recently this kind of self-destructive behavior has become the GOP's M.O.)

And, we can be thankful that Fitz is a Republican, giving the Republicans _no room_ to act in any partisan manner about the indictments to come. They can't treat Fitz like Ronnie Earle and not end up looking (more) like fools.

In short, the treasonous Republicans are trapped. And the boy king's bubble is about to burst.

1. Yup, Starr demonstrated that you can take it in any direction
and as far as you like. Once you're a Special Prosecutor, you're nearly unstoppable. What a monster they created. Heh heh.

The day they made blowjobs an impeachable offense, they lowered the standard of impeachment to "anything goes." This will now return to haunt them.

2. Indeed. Joe Wilson says he might sue after the criminal case...
gets decided. If so, we have Starr's investigation to thank for what will happen next -- Bush and Cheney will be forced to testify while they are in office.

After all, the SCOTUS said Clinton had to when Paula Jones sued for sexual harassment.

Turnabout's fair play, but it sure is a bitch, ain't it?

10. However, the case was about a matter outside the Federal Government

and which predated Clinton's time in office.

I don't know enough about the decision to argue whether those points make a material difference whether Wilson could force a civil suit to be litigated while Bush is in office, but the difference could seemingly at least give Bush an opportunity to litidate over that issue first and delay the civil suite.

13. Yes, it is.
Where can we send money to Wilson to help him with his case?

5. We must carefully set our feet in Ken Starr's tracks, and not make
any new ones of our own. Thank God, that Ken Starr was very sloppy, because it leaves us with a large margin of error.

I like the way this prosecutor, Fitzgerald, has conducted a professional investigation. I hope all the investigations to follow will continue in the same manner.

7. Unfortunately, when the IC law expired, so did the requirement to produce
a final report. Fitzgerald can choose to not indict anyone, close up shop and go back to Chicago with many questions unanswered.

I have heard that several Democratic Reps and Senators are demanding a report be written, regardless of the outcome. You may want to call your DC folks...

8. Alternatively, I figure that Fitzgerald is the kind of prosecutor...
who zealously protects his own reputation.

And thus, he wouldn't have spent all this time, only to produce not even one indictment. At the same time, it would seem reasonable that he would ultimately produce documentation covering all he has found out.

I am extremely confident that Fitz will have found at the very least one unassailable indictment to pursue. That would be in Fitz's professional best interests.

9. Yup
These idiots never seem to realize when they start some outrage or other that they're opening themselves up to the same treatment.

11. Everything happens for a reason.
That's what my grandmother used to say.

Maybe what happened to Clinton had to happen to give us a frame of reference for what's really worth impeaching about. He still left office with a booming economy and he still enjoys popularity. Maybe the crap we went through was just a growing pain. Maybe we were hitting puberty-- and maybe, just maybe, we'll actually grow up this time.

12. I will never thank that man for anything. He is a bad person and he did
bad things.
