16. done 64% yes, but an even better question would be
would universal healthcare lower crime rates? eleviate the feeling of disenfranchisement among the lower socio economic class? decrease sick days for corporations who don't offer health care or for those who fall short of eligibility for health care? such as for McDonalds, and among part time workers....

but hey, it's going to be the corporations that lobby for universal health care anyways, better sway them first. obviously, crime rates and increased infant mortality and decreased crime rates are not a concern for government as long as it's among the impoverished.

24. I don't see how it wouldn't
Healthier workers who don't have to worry about their health coverage (or lack thereof) and it would help employers because they wouldn't have to provide coverage.

So, yes, of course.

Now, here's the million (or billion, trillion, whatever) dollar question:

Would employers, now that they don't have that cost, use the increased revenue responsibly? Would they pass on the savings to their employees as better wages, or to consumers as lower prices?

Or would they just pocket the difference?

26. They'd probably give the CEO a raise.
But anyway, I think universal healthcare would quit the "big brother" attitude that some companies are adopting by giving more coverage to those who abide by their guidelines and less to those who don't. We were just notified (and I work for a non-profit hospital) that if we smoke or eat unhealthy foods and don't exercise and we carry diagnoses that are attributed to those lifestyles, then we won't get as much coverage until it improves. In effect, we will be told how to lives our lives by what we eat, how much we exercise, or if we smoke or not, etc. One less avenue of freedom that corporation will control.

Not that I disagree with exercising, smoking cessation, eating healthier--it's just that some people are genetically prone to certain disorders no matter what healthy behaviors they use! Why should they be penalized for their genetic tendencies? Like diabetes, for instance. Sometimes it can be controlled by diet and exercise but alot of the time you can't help you have it at all and it's much harder to control.

28. And what about middle aged men who play basketball
and INEVITABLY need expensive knee surgery because of it? Many of my friends' husbands have undergone this procedure, all because they didn't want to admit they weren't 22 anymore.

The list goes on.

And how about the good people who just picked the wrong damned gene pool. Exactly the reason we need universal coverage.

to pay for insurance by both employer and employee. You may as well get something for yer tax dollars or theyll just give it to foreign countries .
