Signs that a RW'er is not worth debating
1. They bring up the 'liberal' Media

2. They bring up Bill Clinton

3. They say who we should attack next

4. They cite from WorldNutDaily, NewsMax, the Drudge Report, etc.

5. They accuse you of being a Communist

6. They were known to bash Clinton when he was in office, but say it is unpatriotic to bash Bush

7. They talk about the "_______ (Fill in blank) Agenda"

8. They're totally against abortion, but think welfare is a sign of the Antichrist

9. They confuse "Social Security 'Reform'" with "Social Security Destruction"

10. They use common RW Cliches ("Fight them over there so we don't have to fight them over here", "We have the best _______ in the world", etc.)

3. No. 11.
11. They claim that Bush has suffered more insults and injustices than any other president, and that all the criticism of Clinton was strictly political in nature.

6. They are not military veterans.
As soon as I find that out, I usually make so much fun of their "bravery" that the debate stalls. :spank:

11. As a Veteran I would like to see our Nation remain in a
position where a Draft is not necessary. BUT, when you get right wing rifraff with their raging two inch hardons blathering on about going to war when they are not willing to go themselves it stretches the notion that they cannot imagine how fucking ignorant they are. However, with the likes of bush in power we will soon be in a position where we will have to have a draft and that will be solely due to poor politics and zero leadership; exactly what conservatives cheer on on a daily basis.

not for everyone anyway. I just like to shine their chickenhawkness back in their pathetic faces. :toast:

8. Personal experience
In 2003 I was savaged as a coward and told that I should join the Army because I opposed our venture into Iraq so I would know what it means to "fight for freedom."

- the person doing the savaging was a bush supporter who never did, nor has since served in the military.

- I spent 24 years in uniform and did one tour of duty in a combat zone.

There was no debate but I thoroughly enjoyed putting my military retiree ID Card and my CPO coin on the bar. I asked the lad (30ish) to tell us about his military experience. He slithered. Away.

I look forward to such episodes which are becoming as scarce as rose petals in the paths of our troops in Iraq.

9. 99% of them
have no clue what they or you are talking about. Every answer is a non answer and grounded in stupidity and Hannity.

I give them a couple of minutes then walk away. If they can't speak outside of bumper stickers, if they do not know their history or if they start with religious quotations the conversation is over. They don't listen anyway if they are that far gone.

10. If they're still on the Bush bandwagon at this point, they're probably
lost and need help finding their house--or displaying other symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.

13. The one's I know won't debate until Rush gives them their pointers
on the issue.

A typical bar discussion last week:

Me: What do you make of GW eliminating the "Federal Whistleblower Protection Act"?

RW: I don't know, I haven't heard about that.

Me: I'm telling you about it now, with the Katrina investigation about to begin he's making moves to phase out the program. Why is he doing that?

RW: I don't know, I haven't heard about that, but Mayor Nagin made a real mess out of New Orleans. Why do people expect the government to give them handouts?

It's hard to talk to people who try to channel Rush Limbaugh in their discussions of current events.

14. If you attempt to talk to them and in the middle of your answer they
interrupt blurting out either another talking point totally off the subject, or bring up Clinton.

If you fall into the trap of trying to answer the new talking point, they'll just change the subject again before you can finish. The thing is to keep them on the first subject and then you can both figure out they don't know anymore than the talking point. If they have any "facts" they're probably from RW sources and either wrong or severely spun.

17. I got into fight with some morans on another board
and tried to explain to them that Gore won Florida, and a consortium of newspapers even did an investigation which proved that Gore would have emerged the winner in Florida if the SCOTUS hadn't stepped in to stop the recount. I even supplied links

I was called a "black liar"

I responded that the poster was a "white moron"

He and several of his buddies then changed the conversation, calling me a racist.

You are right -- they are NOT worth debating.

Their idea of "debate" is who can scream the loudest, or call the most names.

18. If it's not on Faux, it didn't happen.
:sarcasm:

Sorry you had to go through that. None of my relatives believe Gore won FL, either -- they actually believe it would have been all over TV if it was true. Oh, and I'm nuts and read all the wrong stuff.

They frequently contradict their own claims (Or rather, Hannity's, Limbaugh's, and O'Reilly's claims).
