Wonder how many in Ohio would love to have their vote back now.
They held the election right in their hands and blew it. Now three more years of this American Furhrer, without impeachment.

I find it hard to have sympathy for them. What was it they had already lost--200,000 jobs?

We could have given them a president not a resident. That has to have many of them spitting nails.

1. To be fair, many in Ohio who would have cast a vote for
Kerry/Edwards were blocked from voting with unfair tactics, like lack of voting machines in Democratic precincts, not to mention the Diebold vote that went for Bush/Cheney when the exit polls clearly pointed to votes for Kerry/Edwards instead.

Don't blame the people of Ohio for the corruption and actions of their Secretary of State.

5. I am from ohio my county went to kerry by decent percentage.

We tried we registered people even gave rides to the polls for those who didn't have transport. We really tried.

I have to tell you my phone number must have belonged to Republican before I was blasted with computer calls from them up till the minute the polls closed. The basic message.... "hurry vote don't let them take our guns and make our kids gay!"

They used scare tactics.
I just asked the people I called if they were going to vote, and if they had any questions where to go vote.

Welcome to DU Epiphany!

7. Point is
voters there in all the precincts should have STORMED the polls in ectasy to vote this prick out. It was one of the most ravaged by the policies they had already seen the results of for 4 years.

I know how hard so many worked to not let it happen. It shouldn't have even been close enough to allow the compromised voting machines and dirty tricks to make a difference.

I think that is evidenced now by the 72% of America that thinks the country is headed in the wrong direction. Scads of them are in Ohio. And I believe cursing their vote.

8. I think there were more people working hard for Kerry
than ever before. We did get many people to come out to the polls who had never voted before.

If it weren't for the fraud and dirty tricks that were played at the polls on election day, Kerry would have won. Look at the exit polls.

Don't blame Ohio as a whole. Yeah there are plenty of brain dead repukes here, but dems as a whole worked harder than ever before.

It really sucked to be a dem in Ohio on Nov 3rd, believe me.

I salute you for your backbreaking work. Never such a surpise since the OJ verdict. But there had to be a jury to let it happen.

You wouldn't even have to work if the election was being held this November.

Did you not see the 12-hour lines in the freezing rain? How much more determined can a voter be? They tried to defeat the tricksters, but did not hold the power cards.

This is one problem we need to lick that has nothing to do with Dieblod or tin-foil (not that I think Diebold theories are necessarily tin-foilish).

11. Oh good, another Ohio bashing thread
Ohio bashing threads never get old. :eyes:

Unless you gave every free minute of your time in 2003-2004, and every extra penny in your pocket to help the Ohio election, then I don't want to hear it.

Did you even catch the news election day? Because if you did, you might have noticed that people were standing in lines for hours in heavily Democratic districts. We will never know how many people were disenfranchised.

I will never understand the lack of compassion people like you exhibit.

18. No they wouldn't
When someone says that they don't have sympathy for people who lost their job just because they live in Ohio, then that's bashing. And, it's been happening since the election. I know how hard we worked in Ohio and there is no need to keep rubbing salt in the wound.

Heavily Republican districts would still go for Bush. Rod Parsley still finds people to come to his rally. People still call CSPAN saying Dems. want to kill babies. People still think that voting for a ban on gay marriage will protect their kids from "turning" gay.

Maybe more people in competitive districts would vote for Kerry today. But, that would just mean that Damschroeder would make sure even fewer voting machines would make it those precincts, so lines would be even longer, and more votes would be "lost"

31. Lady President...
I respectfully disagree that this thread was meant to bash Ohio. I think "Justice" just didn't totally understand what happened here last November (alas, most people don't).

But everything else you said, I agree 100%. I fear that the repub districts would still vote for Bush if they had the chance today. I live in a VERY republican county and have some neighbors down the street who *STILL* have a large wooden sign on their front porch that says 'support Bush/Cheney and our troops' - I agree with supporting our troops, but I wonder how many investigations/indictments/lies it will take before they remove the 'Bush/Cheney' part from their sign. :eyes:

Like you, I worked hard on the Kerry/Edwards campaign in my district... but I don't feel this thread is rubbing salt in the wound. It's getting us to talk about the problems, and that's a good thing. I sure do wish that the word would spread throughout the COUNTRY that it WASN'T the fault of Ohio voters! IT WAS KENNETH BLACKWELL, et al!

I also wish that John Conyers' report, "What Went Wrong in Ohio" (here's a summary) would spread throughout the mainstream media far and wide and would convince people (inside AND outside of Ohio) to write letters to their newspapers about the report. OHIOANS WERE DISENFRANCHISED! The whole country suffered, so why isn't the whole country more vocal about that? Additionally, it seems like the Ohio Democratic leadership could use some help from the national level, because it looks like Blackwell is still the Secretary of State (and will preside over this coming election, too). :grr:

Everyone who wonders what went wrong in Ohio, really and truly should look at John Conyers' report (or at least the summary of it), because you're also right, Lady President, that if a greater number of people in Ohio wanted to vote for Kerry today... Blackwell and his minions would make sure even MORE disenfranchising shenanigans would be in place for the election.

I cant believe theres so many stupids voting for their own demise.

Southern Ohio is much like the deep south. They vote along the same lines, one issue voters who vote GOP for their anti choice stand.

Those types would probably still vote for smirk as sad as that is/

The RED midwest zone is just as bad as the South Red zone. In fact, it's actually redder in most Midwesterner states than
Southern states:

Two counties off the top of my head that I can think of went to Kerry (and these counties are nowhere near metropolitan areas)

Athens County (the heart of southeastern Ohio's Appalachia region)

Erie County (50 miles from Cleveland, 50 miles from Toledo) I live here!
