It's a lie that Karl had little to do with Miers nomination.
What the hell do you call contacting Dobson?

They now want to protect Karl's "brillance" by claiming that he had little to do with the Miers nomination because of his Plame troubles and that had he not been distracted, Miers probably would not have been Bush's selection. What bullshit! Didn't Focus on the Family Dobson say that he was contacted directly by Karl?

They lie so much even they can't keep up and the MSM is just as stupid as they are.

1. Calling Dobson
came after Miers was nominated, hence it could not be considered as evidence that Karl was involved in the selection process. Some republicans are saying that Andy Card had taken the role of advising Bush on this; the implication is that the Cheney forces are preparing for a White house without Karl.

2. But if Karl thought she wasn't a good candidate, why make the call?

Believe me, nothing gets done in that WH without Karl's approval.
He's been responsible for a lot of boners that people just don't want to blame him for...otherwise there are no intelligent people in the WH.

3. "But if Karl thought ...."
That isn't what your OP was about. The degree of Karl's involvement in her selection is not measured by if he approves of her or not.

reassure Dobson, and to try to stem the tide of opposition to the nomination.

*** on edit: I have been shown that I am wrong on this. Rove did call before the nomination was announced.

7. You are right.
I was wrong in thinking that Rove called him after the nomination was announced. I just googled for more information, and found that there are numerous sources reporting that Rove had called Dobson before the nomination was announced.
