Anyone interested in Republican Scandal Haiku?
Free form is fine, but basic form is 5-7-5 sylables with some seasonal reference....

For example....

"Leaves die in Autumn
tumbling, from dying oak trees
helplessly, like Rove"

or

"Bushie in freefall
alone, despised like Brownie
Give him some pretzels"

1. Haiku YOU.
I used Haiku in my 9-20-05 Neil Lisst comic, commenting abour racism in America.

I don't know if the link will come out right, but here it is:
http://www.webcomicsnation.com/neillisst/neillisst/series.php?view=archive&chapter=2215

If that doesn't work, you can go here
http://www.webcomicsnation.com/neillisst
and then go to the 9-20-05 comic strip.

I love haiku, and would use it more, but ....

37. Thanks, Rowdy. The haiku was for the haiku market!
I figure I can get away with one haiku like that about every month to two months. I have found that writing a comic is like feeding a large group of people. You're fine as long as everyone has something to ingest that pleases them. No one has to like everything, but everyone needs something to like.

Some of Neil's fans like the really dark stuff, and don't like the lighter Neil. Some days are haiku days, some days are Bushism days, and some days are nihilistic days. Just like life.

I'm glad you started the haiku thread. I'm going to do the same for another poetic art form. There's no reason we can't have educate and fun at the same time!

thread. I find the form difficult to successfully complete with but enormously fun to play around with. Best I could do was to rewrite some old ones otheres have written.

Hell, some night we should do sonnets (I can't remember the exact rhyme scheme but I do recall it was easy and they were lots of fun to compose)

And thanks for the link. I look forward to exploring it at my leisure.

3. ROFL RB that's a great way to spend a few minutes on a Friday night
Scotty swore it true
when Bush videoed the crew
but everybody booed

Katrina blew in
and all Brownie did was spin
we lost too many kin

I really really suck at haiku, but that was entertaining

hubby's are:

Bush is a big dick
a really really big schmuck
and an asshole too

W is a silly fuck
spinning Karl is deep in muck
Delay is just toast

And I'm definitely on for the ice cream. I LOVE in all forms-especially anything with chocolate! My BF will be back tomorrow but, until then we can trade haiku and-hell, who knows-maybe even limericks!

On Ice Cream

Orgasmic, yet unhelpful
to my growing butt"

17. Received my invitation just the other day and am still pondering...
Last February I saw a dozen friends I hadn't seen since '76 at a birthday party in DC (including my former fiance). It was really wonderful so I suppose I should bite the bullet and just do it.

How about you? Any plans?

Also, we are supposed to close on our property her in Texas soon and will probably be mooving to Oregon. A lot of things up in the air right now

I will probably go to the lunch on campus just to show off the fact that I wound up with a good looking, professional man. Thats about it-I never went to a single football game when I was going to school, why should I go to one now? And I don't know the people hosting the dinner/dance at all so I doubt I'll participate.

20. Its a fun form of verse to play around with....Traditional Japanese
haiku is far more complicated and bound by rules. DU Haiku, however, is much looser and open to compromise. And it is, indeed, the thought that counts.

"In autumn lies fall".....gotta love it

Child Trying To Catch Bug In Jar Dies In Gunfire

POSTED: 10:22 am EDT October 14, 2005

ST. LOUIS -- An 8-year-old boy who stepped outside to try to catch an insect in a jar was killed in a hail of gunfire, and his adult cousin was wounded.

It was not immediately clear whether Craig Collins Jr. and his 25-year-old cousin Freddie Pitts were the targets of the shooting or were caught in crossfire. Police said they believe there was more than one gunman.

Investigators said they did not know the motive for the shooting Wednesday. But relatives said they believed the shooting was retaliation for their efforts to report drug dealers in the neighborhood.

The cousins were hit just after leaving their grandmother's house in hopes of catching a praying mantis, family members said. Pitts was shot in the mouth, they said.

"...they believed the shooting was retaliation for their efforts to report drug dealers in the neighborhood."

These people were doing the right thing... It's so unfair. I'll keep that family in my prayers...

You know, these people are heroes. They are stuck on a battlefield as much as our soldiers are... and they're fighting to keep their homes free from violence and real terrorism... :(

Edited on Fri Oct-14-05 10:27 PM by spuddonna
Setting: Before yesterday's press conference...

"Time to spin again...
Steel myself to the questions
God, I hate this job!

(NEW STANZA! To include fall reference...)
Last fall, so long gone
Jeffy on my pillowcase
Nights of secret love!

Gannon is gone now
I am alone with my fears
My bed is so cold.

I stand before them
They snigger and stare at me
Catapult away!

Spouting talking points
Helen Thomas assaults me!
She has not learned yet...

Call her a traitor,
Now Moran is on my case!
Must escape this hell...

How many more days?
I wait for Fitzy to call
Let the lies end now..."

:)

ETA: DOH! I just realized I was supposed to include a fall reference! I'll have to add an extra stanza... lemme think...
