LIVE on CNN TONIGHT, our Democrats debate
Edited on Thu Oct-09-03 05:06 PM by sgr2
Well, they really don't debate much. But they each get 2 minute soundbites on national TV.

Lets hope we hear a HEALTHY amount of Bush bashing.

http://msnbc.com/news/978246.asp?0cv=CB10

THE 90-MINUTE debate, broadcast live on CNN, is the first since Sen. Bob Graham of Florida abandoned his 5-month-old campaign Monday after determining he could never win.
Graham’s departure left nine candidates, including retired Army Gen. Wesley Clark; former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean; Rep. Dick Gephardt of Missouri; and Sens. John Edwards of North Carolina, John Kerry of Massachusetts and Joe Lieberman of Connecticut.

<snip> "A change in format is expected to make for a livelier debate tonight among the nine Democratic presidential candidates.
A portion of the 90-minute event will feature 40 undecided Arizona Democratic voters sitting in the front rows, asking unscripted questions of the candidates."

<snip> "We are going to see a debate unlike any we've had for presidential candidates," CNN senior executive producer David Bohrman said. "There are very few rules. The public wants to see if there is some presidential timber on this stage."

8. I hope that they don't
continue to BushCo Bash...it's was fine in the beginning...but now I think they need to focus on the issues in this country...Bush bashing is getting old...but it is still enjoyable to hear...if at least one candidate will get away from that...I think they will win over more voters...

Now don't get me wrong...but I love to bash BushCo with the best of them...he's such an easy target...everything he does is quality material to make fun of and complain about...

11. Why can't they do both?
I think a healthy balance of Bush bashing and then tackling the issues Bush is trying to distract us from will work :)

12. You know....
...they don't just Bush bash for fun and entertainment. It's not like they are going to be making fun of his chimp-like face. This so-called president has done some very serious damage to this country. They should most definitely be mentioning it every chance they get....listing off his crimes in detail. If they don't tell the public what Bush has done to this country, who's going to???? God knows we aren't going to here it from the news media. I'm sick and tired of politeness and making nice with this idiot! And...yes...they should talk about their own issues too. And please don't let them bash each other...how I hate that!!!!

...what horseshit.

- Why can't they find someone that's neutral or 'liberal' to ask these questions?

Not necessarily bad, as she is having them clearly state THEIR view and reduce the bush bashing only.

I liked it that Gephardt wouldn't let Judy Woodruff (whom I've disliked for about twenty years, when she sucked up to Eliot Abrams) interrupt him.

28. Anybody notice something interesting about Howard Dean
Howard Dean seems EXTREMELY comfortable talking infront of an audience. He doesn't raise his voice, he doesn't pause, he doesn't move his hands in a way that he seems like he's pointing at people. In General, it's more like he's just talking with his friend than he's talking to an audience. I'm not really much of a Dean fan but I found this quite extrordinary.
