Somebody is watching the Polls- Gas Prices DOWN 7 cents from this AM in
Northern California. Either Bush jumped on the Oil Companies, or they did it on their own...

Also heard my first ad by Chevron on KGO on conserving gasoline...

1. sorry
I'm not going to be happy until gas prices go down to pre-Nixon prices. Oil companies are trying to figure out how much they can get away with.

5. I'd like to see it at 5.00
to encourage conservation, but then again I'd also like to see affordable and functional public transportation, walkable and bikable communities, etc etc.

9. Yeah, That's A Good Way To Help The Working Poor
Let's have the whole economy spin into recession so we can force people to conserve, knowing full well that such high prices of necessities hurt the poor more than the comfortable.

Great idea. (Sarcasm off.)

10. Check Your Heating Bills...
It's 2.75 a gallon here in Suburban Chicago. That's down from about 2.80 my last fill-up two weeks ago. A year ago, it was 2.05 a gallon...and in 2000 it was 1.20 a gallon.

The stinker is this week I had to flip on the heat in our house for the first time. When we moved to this house in '94, our yearly heating costs were about $50 a winter. Last year it was closing in on $175 and I am hearing this year we could be knocking on $300.

Also, this is a lull time for driving. Notice how they hit higher around Labor Day...I suspect they'll start creeping back up to $3 or more for Thanksgiving.

People grumble, but they keep paying. Now what's the political price? I've always believe the pocketbook is the biggest issue when one goes into a voting booth...but with all the corruption of this regime, all bets are off.

11. I try not to look, anymore.
It hurts too much. I just stare off into space while I'm filling up, and mindlessly sign my CC receipt and leave.

That really hard part comes when it's time to balance the checkbook and I have to look at the receipt.
