Al Gore .. "absolutely no plans ..no expectations
of ever being a candidate again".

AP
"When asked how the United States would have been different if he had become president, he had harsh criticism for Bush's policies.

'We would not have invaded a country that didn't attack us,' he said, referring to Iraq. 'We would not have taken money from the working families and given it to the most wealthy families.'

'We would not be trying to control and intimidate the news media. We would not be routinely torturing people," Gore said. 'We would be a different country."

usliberals.about.com

Al, are you sure? What if we draft you to run in 2008?

We still need a president who won't initiate invasions of other countries....who understands that torture is wrong....who doesn't rob from the poor to give more to the super-rich....who doesn't squelch the democratic freedom of the press every chance he gets...who understands and cares about the catastropic dangers of global warming. We need decency, keen intellect and deep experience.

After all the tree hugging, handler swapping, internet inventing, beard growing, skitzo debate performances, undeniable brilliance and the theft of the presidency right from your grasp...You would do it all again in a heartbeat.

1.Gore never said he invented the Internet. I.e: he didn't do it

2.Wingnuts call Gore a tree-hugger. Gore does not. I.e. he didn't do it

3.He didn't have handlers but advisors like every damn presidential candidate in history. What's wrong with that? He did not swap them , some of them left because of disagreements. Happens all the time in politics and everywhere else in life. I.e. he didn't do it

3.Gore won two of the debates according to most polls. He lost the second but hardly because of "skitzo debate performances". I.e. : he didn't do it

4.What the fuck is your problem with the beard? Gore always grew a beard when he was on vacation. Just ask the guy who cuts his hair. He was on Inside Politics back in 2002 and bashed the media for making a big deal out of nothing.
Just because you didn't see Gore with a beard does not mean that he didn't have it in the past. Here's a picture from 1996. (the third one) Can you see the beard?
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4870904
I.e. what did he do?

5.If your car is stolen that's your fault. We know that.

So Gore is full of what?
Seems to me that you are full of shit your heard from the media.

3. You really want to "draft" somebody who doesn't want the job?
If he's not interested, he's not interested. Why not look for somebody who actually WANTS to run for President?

That aside, he has no obligation to abide by a "draft", which would mean a lot of wasted work that could have gone into a real candidate's campaign.

11. well, there's another interpretation . . .
suppose Al WANTS to be asked to run . . . by a LOT of people . . . and unless that happens, he really does have no intention of running . . .

"But why?", you might ask . . .

well, this is nothing but a half-baked theory, but here goes . . .

if Al's as smart as I think he is, he knows that the majority of the American people don't have a clue . . . about anything . . . and that unless this changes, anyone taking on the presidency would need his or her head examined . . . because without the support of an informed citizenry, trying to clean up BushCo's mess will be an impossible and, consequently, thankless proposition . . .

should the people actually awaken, however . . . to the point that they recognize the damage BushCo has done/is doing, and demand something different . . . something progressive (as in "looking forward with optimism and resolve") . . . THEN, and ONLY then, might it make sense to actually seek the office . . .

so maybe Al's looking for us -- LOTS of us -- to tell him "Yeah, we get it . . . and we want you to lead the effort to fix it" . . . because he knows that unless that actually happens, he has NO chance in hell of succeeding even if he is elected . . .

like I said, just a half-baked theory . . . make of it what you will . . .

16. He didn't say he doesn't want the job and he didn't say
he's not interested and you should not put words to his mouth like the media did all the time during the campaign.

4. And one that WAS ELECTED! And who FOUGHT for his right to be Prez
I'd take Gore over Kerry in an instant, because he didn't just roll over; he went as far as he could in trying to allow our system to work, unlike JFK who just walked away.

I don't think I'd be a primary supporter but if he became the candidate, I'd be out on the streets for him for sure!

15. Same here.
He's about the only other person I'd do more for than vote in the G.E.

However, I don't think he's going to run.

8. Wrong answers though.
He should be talking about what WOULD have happened, not what WOULDN'T.

Everyone knows Gore wouldn't have done those things. What would interest me is exactly what Gore WOULD have done differently.
