this month in DC. It seeks to mobilize a new movement for the poor and minorities.

7. White, southern woman GOP caller said there are no more Jim Crowe laws
so therefore there is no more racism. The minister said the laws are off the books but that doesn't change the way people think and act.

He is now discussing the plight of the poor (black, brown and white) who need better jobs and the need to bring back manufacturing to the USA. "We haved ceded manufacturing to third world countries and that we are now ceding service jobs to India and other countries." He describes the USA as a "prison-industrial complex."

8. it is certainly more complex that that...
but Farrakhan's sense of injustice seems too narrow imo

9. It is pretty narrow.
Not to mention with some of the things i have heard him say about jews, he has no place discussing racsim.

11. I think he is addressing justice in the most basic sense--
respecting the other--which is also complex and universal. What about these examples of institutionalize racism or institutionalized poverty that he has sited is narrow? They are at once parochial and universal. This is what MLK was talking about toward the end of his life.

10. He has come a very long way
I am happy that he is calling attention to the problems we all face in this country. We cannot continue a headlong dive into total narcissim and hope to survive as a nation. I think he is on the right track and has been sine the 04 elections. I am not in total agreement with all that he says but the majority of what he is trying to accomplish is heartening.

14. Yep and since the million man march
Asshat yes, but he has somehow gotten the message that being an asshat doesn't work. It APPEARS he has re-evaluated his priorities.

27. Farrakhan is brilliant and wise. He knows more about Jesus than
most of the Christian funddies and he understands what Jesus stood for. He speaks truth to power and he speaks it in a way that the masses can understand. Everyone understands and it makes those in denial very uneasy.

25. To whom would you prefer to look for the truth...
GWB? Perle? Wolfowitz? Rove? Clinton? Hillary? Cheney?

One conspiracy theory has it that Bush Sr. had JFK offed. Yet, he is held up and revered. His dad Prescott sold arms to the enemy and hid their ill-gotten gains in NYC bands during WWII. But he was made President/

How about Swartznegger the groping terminator?

Do you prefer Sharpton? (Now, I LIKE Al).

How about Reagan and Iran/Contra and deregulation and trickle down?

What makes these people any better than Farrakhan? Except for Sharpton, the only difference is that they are caucasians. They have ALL lied in one way or another and committed other sometimes heinous crimes. So, why the ruckus about Farrakhan? It would seem that he is in good company.

19. At work and can't see it....
but I am no fan or Farrakhan's. He is truly a racist and a divider.

However, that does not mean that he can't make sense from time to time.

Since he thinks they built the pyramids. I remember him saying that in a speech about 10 years ago. A real nutso that guy is. Its amazing that sometimes luny dudes can amass so much wealth and power in the world, but I think the world is a crazy place anyway
