Prove me Wrong but what if?
What if we are being set up by this talk of indictments coming down the road? What worries me is all the talkies saying what a great prosecutor Fitzgerald is, blah blah, and that's what worries me.

What if in the end this "great prosecutor" decides nothings here, and everyone will wipe their hands clean and move on? Then they will say "well Fitz couldn't find nothing then nothings there". What if deals are in place to protect the powerful? Absolute power corrupts absolutely!

1. Don't you think this is possible? Everyone walks? People in high places with high connections have lots of power.

2. They control every branch of Govt. They don't give a fuck about checks and balances. Don't you think this Fitzgerald might be intimated one bit?

3. What if I'm right?

Fire away I'm just playing the what if game.

1. I think the more likely scenario...
..is that there is indictments but that the american people shrug their shoulders and don't really give a crap or bother to find out what happened. It becomes this big political blurr to them. The media will continue to present this as they present everything, as a "both sides have their point of view on this situation" and as a result the people who would most likely be persuaded (the independent middle group) will likely just continue to ignore or dismiss it as more political yammering and fighting from both sides.

21. I don't think so, I think the MSM will glom onto this
Even without sex, this is a sexy story for them. Think about it, a pretty, blonde, white woman who by all appearances is your every day working housewife is married to a dashing Ambassador while unbeknownst to all she is really James Bond dutifully working on WMD proliferation until she is outed by men in high places of power.

They won't pass this one up.

2. Anything is possible..
.... but only a few things actually happen.

There have been leaks from the inside that indicate that Fitz is well on his way. I tend to believe the indictments are coming.

4. Hearing Mary Matalin talking points on Imus
We're not worried (I'm too busy taking care of my kids to think about this)

Nothing is going to happen.
It's all political
The president is doing a great job, Iraq is going just swell
Nobody cares about this except 500 people in Washington

I come to the conclusion that they are absolutely terrified.

5. Exactly...
.... the level of spin is directly proportional to the trouble they are in.

There may not be indictments, but it's clear that they think there will be.

6. At this point
I personally believe the pendulum has swung and regardless of indictments, they won't recover.

2006 is ours to lose and so is 08.

7. Have you been reading the daily fax from the RNC??
They are desperately trying to spin that NOTHING TO SEE HERE line. Richard Cohen in the WAPO, Victoria Toensing on HARDBALL, and Mary Matalin on Imus this morning....guess what? No one is BUYING it.

If the prosecutor decided nothing was there, why did he call Judy back, spend eight hours with her on Tuesday, and have her testify to his satisfaction on WEDS before releasing her from legal jeopardy?? Why is Karl on the schedule yet again to testify on Friday, if there was nothing going on?

The only answer to your question, what if you are right, is what if you are wrong? We will know when Fitz tells us, not before.

11. I didn't intend to suggest that, just wondering where you got those
talking points from...they mirror the RNC frantic fax that all the good foot soldiers have been trotting out, to a T. So far, they have been going over like a lead balloon.

9. and once again they will get to publicly thumb their noses at us
and the law. Part of their power play, they can wiggle out of anything because they hold all the cards.
Just like the theft of the presidency in 2000 emboldened the local and state fascists to skew the vote in their own little ways all across this country in 2004. A hundred votes here, lost voter registrations cards there, too long of a wait somewhere else....

10. Given His Track Record Of Taking Down Corrupt Politicians,
I do not think he is scared of shit. The guy had a great conviction record to boot. He is a serious man that hates governement corruption. His whole career has been about wiping it out. Do you really think a guy like that is intimiated easily?

18. But I think we can all agree on one thing
Everyone has a price. For some it is money. For others it is waking up with a horse head in bed with them. Its all relative.

17. I've been tripping on how everybody on DU seems to think
this is going to bring Bush down. There ain't going to be any indictments. You all have misunderestimated the power of the dictatorship we now live in. And I might add, despite being shown over and over and over again ...

All we have now are illusions of democracy. Apparently the delusions work extremely well.

I guess its true that hope springs eternal in the human breast.
