Another 200 dollars a year. Add that big tax cut I got from the Federal govt.. NOT.. I'm paying more taxes than before... How can that be???? I'm supposed to have more money in my pocket to spend under Georgies plan!!

Sure,Murikans might get another 5 bucks on your paycheck but thats the last you'll see of it. Most likely it'll be gone when you fill up your vehicle,if you compare these historic highs that fuel has been at for years since Bush was President and compare them to what gas was going for under Clinton.

Property taxes go up on home and car,car registration go up,permit fees at area lakes go up by a buck or so etc,etc.... And yet these IDIOTS still think they got a tax break!!!

BTW,anyone checked their home insurance rates?? Ours keeps going up because these insurance companies are blaming it on 9/11. This will never end until Bush and his thugs are long gone.

I guess it is kind of a property tax on the car. The tax went down a few years ago because the state had a surplus. However the way the law was written to allow the break in this tax.. was that it would go back up when the state ran a deficit. So, since we are in a deficit now the car taxes/licenses go back up.

But the repukes didn't give the whole story on this issue (shocking I know!) when they used it as a campaign tool. Most people assume Davis was just raising that tax but in reality it was gov. Wilson's provision to have it go back up that is doing this (as it should if we don't have the money to run the state).

the more expensive your car, the higher the tax. I have an older car so I don't get too hard. Those Hummer owners are surely getting it though.. ha

1. You say you are going to retire to Canada. Last time I checked, Canada was rather picky about who it would let in to live there -- it was especiallypicky about older folks. What kind of Canadian visa will you get that will permit you to live there?

people all the time come from Canada and stay here 8-10 moths a year... they like the weather..all I'd have to do is travel back and forth once a year....Really haven't checked it all out yet but will let you know...No we don't have state tax..but we have very low wages compared to the other states....

Our municipalities are really hurting, particularly police & fire. Our county jail is overcrowded and they want to build a new one. The school district is in the hole and needs to modernize about 15 schools.

My "tax cut" came out to about $7 a month. I can guarantee that my property taxes will go up more than $84 a year.

Have their houses up for sale. Cannot afford it.
I might also have to put mine on the market. My mom filed for bankruptcy...shes 77 and its the medication or food for her now.
My brother lost his job, my sister lost hers (5 kids), and the only jobs in town now are flipping burgers or Wal Mart.

BTW...cutting firewood this year to get by because the gas prices are supposed to go up this winter in Michigan says the gas company.
Im closing off the upstairs and living next to the fireplace.
Im lucky I even have a fireplace. Other people just freeze to death, and there will be many more out in the cold this winter.

I bet if you live in one those states where there toll bridges and highways you never even counted the annual increases in the tolls a another tax. The loss of Federal revenues to the states under the Bush administration and the phony political sham of 'cutting taxes' has led more and more states to have to increase tolls (sometimes doubling and tripling) to help off-set these loss of revenues. And all the while, the working ditto heads don't even realize what's hitting them. They never even mention the outrageous price of gasoline now...it's just accepted...without reason. If a Dem were in the WH now there would long lines at gas pumps to further instill the hysteria among voters. As it is, there is really no gas crisis or shortage to warrant the increases we are paying. But the PROFIT margins for oil companies keep growing even as the pension funds for their workers dwindle.

Most municipalities have given away so many property tax breaks to businesses (and the bigger the business, the more likely they're getting a break) that, I bet, when you see your property taxes go up, most of the rich companies in your municipality aren't seeing any increase. If the pulled their weight, your taxes would go up much less (IF AT ALL). In fact, your taxes would probably go down.
