I might have finally gotten through to a South Park Republican today...
It was pretty intense. The thing is that his brother is a lieutenant in Iraq right now... apparently his unit has already had eight troops killed, or they're covering for a unit that had eight troops killed- one or the other. I was a little on the drunken side, celebrating my new engagement with my fiancee's family, but I needed to take the time to bond with them. Very, very important. What he told me is that what is going on in Iraq in very, very bad, from the soldier's point-of-view.

Anyway, my future brother-in-law told me that he's going to email this email from his lieutenant brother in Iraq, and he said that it would infuriate me. Not in the ideological leftist sense, but in the common, you stupid-piece-of-shit Commander-in-Chief sense. They've been getting some absolutely ridiculous, suicidal orders, and a whole lot of them have been dying because of these orders.

I told him the numbers that I had calculated- .4% risk of getting killed per soldier-year, and over 4% for getting wounded per soldier-year, in a previous post that I made here on DU. My future brother-in-law figured that the numbers would actually be higher for his lieutenant brother because of the work that he was doing. The numbers I had calculated took into account all soldiers on the ground, including support troops.

I'm hoping to receive this email soon and post it here. I've gotten my brother-in-law's permission to do so. It sounds as if it is something we all need to see.

8. suicidal orders?
Is Bushco trying to make the military look incompetent so they can justify more outsourcing to the likes of CACI & Blackwater?

I think it was something about popcorn time. Due to the fact that I've never watched and have no plans to ever watch South Park, apparently I misunderstood the fivefingers as well.
