New York Times article doesn't include "Shame, shame, shame"
I read the NYT article "In Raucous House Vote, G.O.P. Oil Refinery Bill Squeaks By" this morning and was surprised (OK, well, maybe not surprised, but disappointed) that I saw no mention of the Democrats chanting "Shame, shame, shame" in the article. It is quite amazing that the NYT chose to completely leave out this very interesting and dramatic part of the story.

I didn't watch much of the corporate media news yesterday. I guess Wolf Blitzer covered it a bit but did anyone else?

I hope the Daily Show has a clip on it on Monday--it would be great material for them. I sure wish Jon Stewart was on TV on Fridays. It really seems like they should be on to cover the outrageous things that always seem to take place at the end of the week (i.e., the "Friday night news dump"). So many outrages, so little time to cover them!

During Katrina, I had high hopes that maybe the media had seen the light and would start reporting a little more truthfully, but other than Keith Olbermann (and occasionally Anderson Cooper and Jack Cafferty), it's back to business as usual.

1. Well! it should expected of NYT
The newspaper has not even conceded to the fact that the American public was lied to and hood-winked into the Iraq war and that Judith Miller was a major accomplice in the charade. I am not surprised but angry that no effective punishment has been deviced to make the NYT accountable.

2. The media is so full of propoganda
I watched a local news story about this event - What was said was something to the effect that the dems were disruptive in an attempt by the republicans to pass a bill that would deal with rising energy costs by giving incentives and benefits to oil companies to encourage exploration of new energy sources.

The story made the dems come off as major obstructionists to lower energy costs. Which is not true or even important to the story.

This was on a local news channel of the nbc affiliate.

I get really depressed at what passes as news these days, it seems it is all about creating a certain public perception about Democrats.
