I love it!!! My dad is slowly turning
against bush.
Said boy he is really showing his ass.

he said GWB is spending money like he's a liberal...then he added I take that back he has spent more money than anyone and he is screwing up left and right and I don't know what happened here.

tee hee hee

I said I told you dad. I told you all along and I love this, love that I am getting to say I told you so.

He said It seems like he is really going down and going down fast.

This is a man (my dad) he yelled at me because my 11 year old referred to GWB as a monkey. Saying I should teach my child to respect the president. I said how can I? he's not my president.

: )
Now I know that things are really going down the tubes. Am I happy, no because we all saw it. But at this point after the shit hits the fan we know that there is no where to go buy up.

1. My parents are too.
Not big-time Republicans, bu they voted for Bush. 2006 is looking pretty promising.

3. Sooner or later they'll see the error of their ways.
Bush has managed to chase his supporters away because of his arrogance and pig-headedness.

4. I like these stories but
my question is this: When elections roll around again, will they remember how the whole Republican party was corrupt and complicit in Bush's misdeeds? Or will they simply keep voting Republican straight ticket because some other unknown Republicans will be running? At this point, I don't really care what they think of Bush....he's not running again.

6. That's up to us
Edited on Sat Oct-08-05 10:01 AM by FreedomAngel82
If we know people who are turning that's up to us. To encourage them if they're pissed off enough to vote democratic. To "teach them" the error of their ways and everything. That's my worry too. Is this all lip-service? Will they vote democratic next year and in 2008 or not at all? Or still vote for republicans? That's where we come in. We should show them why they should vote for democrats.

5. Very cool
:) Thanks to Bush my mother is no longer a republican. :) I think she's more of an independent now. My dad and I don't really talk politics so I don't know with him even though we did vote for the same person for mayor this last April. I also have gotten him to become a "Daily Show" fan. :) So that's a start!

8. Getting a GOPer to watch the Daily Show regularly will open their eyes.
Any R who continues to watch the Daily Show, has a deep down disgust with Bush and the other GOP powers-that-be. I think encouraging people to become independents in their voting is easier than getting them to switch registrations to the Democratic party.

7. We just have to keep reminding them that the Republican
Congress gave Bush everything he asked for and more. In short, they were irresponsible too.

11. I Had That Joy Under Reagan
My dad sent him money and everything. Mom was in tears--but after the Iran-Contra, my dad has turned his back on the GOP. He hates Bush as much as any of us. Believe--it can happen.

13. Reagan "turned" my dad too
voted GOP all his life until Reagan. It wasn't Iran-Contra for my dad it was Reagan advocating "limited nuclear war". My dad worked in the defense industry and believed in a strong defense as a deterrent. When Reagan started talking about actually USING nukes, he came in out of the cold. So to speak. Never voted GOP again. Gave new meaning to the phrase "Reagan democrat".

14. My own father has told me to leave the country if I hate it so much
Edited on Sat Oct-08-05 11:10 AM by JoZbean
Spoken like a true Republican. I'm a Progressive by choice, not by birth. I have a mind and I learned how to think for myself.

I want to say here, though, that my dad is a good man, he's just misguided. He comes from an era that I don't understand. He just doesn't know how to admit his mistake and save face. I force him into a corner when I debate politics with him, and that hurts him. I have to learn how to approach him in a way so that he can save face. For both of us.

(edited for spelling)
