The Burn Rate (or why Lieberman is imploding)
In politics, the speed with which a candidate spends the money he or she raises is called "the burn rate."

I pulled together the numbers on the presidential candidates to find out how fast they are spending their money.

Lieberman has already spent MORE THAN HALF the money he has raised.

Kerry is running the most fiscally conservative campaign by far.

1. Not looking good for Lieberman
He seems to be burning cash mighty fast.

By the way, does the Kerry COH number include the $2.5 million he transfered from his Senate fund? Was that included in his Q2 report?

2. I fixed it
I plugged in Kerry's $2.6 million Senate transfer. He still has the slowest burn rate of the candidates.

5. When campaigns go bad
Lieberman is spending money faster than he can raise it, and his solution was to give the finance staff a disproportionate pay cut.

That's like shooting the wounded. No wonder they quit.
