Threat to NY Subways has "Doubtful Credibility"--- Homeland Security

Well, here we go again. Nothing signifies that a Rove indictment in the Plame case is imminent more than this scare tactic.

Every time Bush fell in the polls in the 2004 election, up went the color coded alert and some phony terror threat that later proved to be bogus.

That's why Ridge quit. Now, Bush can't get the career professionals at Homeland Security to go along with his lies. Has the President no shame?

"Other officials cautioned that the information that triggered the warning was shaky."

"But in Washington, Homeland Security Department spokesman Russ Knocke said,'the intelligence community has concluded this information is of doubtful credibility. we shared this information early on with state and local authorities in New York'. Knocke did not elaborate."

"A counter terrorism official, who was briefed about the threat by Homeland Security authorities, said the intelligence was considered doubtful because it did not reflect'on-the-ground, detailed' information."

"Rather, the official, who also insisted on anonymity, said the intelligence was similar to 'what could be found on the Internet and a map of New York City'."


If this was said by us, at DU, or Howard Dean, our Patriotism would be questioned. But Civil Servants, some on the record, are calling this heightened threat bogus. Again, I ask, Mr. President, have you no shame?
