Does St. Sen Patricia Miller of Indiana want to be 'Aunt Lydia'?
You all heard about this bill she wants to pass to ensure that only straight heterosexual christians married couples have the right to procreate. I just read this article and the first thing I thought of was this - Patricia Miller wants to be Aunt Lydia from "The Handmaid's Tale". If this law were to pass in Indiana, it would prohibit using any kind of medical assistance to help 'undesirables' from having babies. Single, unwed or Lesbian couples couldn't use invetro or other fertilization methods to have children. And even if they were married, background research would have to be done to ensure a happy married couple AND that the couple is involved in some sort of 'faith-based' program

Among the determining factors is a requirement that the women be married to a person of the opposite sex. The assessment would contain a description of the family lifestyle and automatically exclude lesbians. Women would also have to provide proof that they have participated in faith-based or church activities.

I so want to send this woman a copy of "The Handmaid's Tale" because she's about to turn Indiania into the Republic of Gilead if she has her way

2. The bill promotes fornication.
I'm from Indiana and that's what I'm writing to my state senators. The bill promotes fornication, as it does nothing to prohibit unwed women from being impregnated the old fashioned way.

Why worry about two old lesbians having children when child sexual assault by heterosexual predators and teenage pregnancy is on the rise in southern Indiana?

This bill is so hypocritical it defies the ability to comprehend.

Peace.

3. What a huge mistake this is for the RW
For example, I've never been particularly vocal in support of gay marriage or other gay issues. It didn't affect me, so I just kept quiet. No more. This is blatantly unfair. We all have a right to procreate and if a 12 year old can have her second child with the second man (situation in my school) then by God, how can we tell two loving women or men they can't have children?

Yes, I agree that children of gay parents have some special challenges and as a teacher I've worked through them a number of times, but I'm here to tell you it is no worse .. in fact much better... than a divorce in the family. These kids are fine. They deal. No one has this right.

The RW has just stepped right out of the frying pan and into the fire.
